Ontario Legends Series Checks In for Round 2 at Peterborough Speedway

At this point last year, Matt Haufe was clearly the most dominant name on the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series. Fast forward to the 2018 schedule and tour statistics show 3 different main event winners in as many events. The hard-charger from Stittsville, Ontario has shared the victory lane honours with good friend Kevin Foisy and Phillipsburg, New Jersey’s Alex McCollum. Saturday, June 16th, the series returns to Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval for its second start of the year at Peterborough Speedway.
“We’ve had some excellent racing and strong numbers – with close to 30 teams – at each of our first 3 shows,” said Andrew McFadden, who along with Jeff Drimmie and Kevin Foisy make-up the team of Ontario Legends Series officials. “Its great to see some different names find their way to the winner’s circle and I think that will be a sign of things to come as the season moves forward.”
Checking the point standings after 3 events shows that consistency is the key to some solid showings. Foisy sits at the top of the heap with 322 points, while Haufe is just a couple of markers out of the top spot. Although he has yet to score a main event checkered flag, Wesley Cuthbertson occupies the 3rd position in the early season chase, less than 30 points behind both Kevin Foisy and Matt Haufe. Andre Fiorini, Miles Tyson, Terry McClelland, Jeff Drimmie, Cole McFadden, Cory Richardson and Alex McCollum complete the top 10.
“With Peterborough Speedway serving as the site of the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals finale on Saturday, July 14th, teams will be looking to get as much track time as possible on the Central Ontario layout,” continued McFadden. “There’s really no telling who might show-up until teams start signing-in.”
Pit gates open Saturday, June 16th at noon, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and the first green flag at 5:00.
