The management of Laird International Raceway regret to inform fans, drivers and sponsors that the racing events for Thursday, June 21st have been cancelled due to inclement weather.

Due to the large volume of rain received over the last four days and additional precipitation this morning, the Laird Fairgrounds (home of LIR) have been saturated to the point that event parking, pedestrian walkways and some competitor areas are in an unsatisfactory condition at time of release.
As a result of those conditions and questionable weather today, track officials have been forced to postpone this week’s events.

“It’s a difficult decision, but after conducting a walk-thru of the facility, it would be unacceptable to ask our fans and driver’s to participate under these conditions.  Usually warm weather will dry up all areas to satisfactory state but as of now they are not there” began Director of Race Day Operations Gerry Liscumb Jr.

“We can’t argue with Mother Nature and she has provided us some much needed precipitation, but rain and racing facilities just don’t mix”

As a result, LIR will now focus on putting it’s third week of competition in the books next Thursday, June 28th.  A full show of all 6 of their weekly racing divisions will hit the track with Twisted Toyz Motorsports Super Late Models, Caswell Concrete Products Outlaw Modifieds, LIR Modifieds, Maitland Motors Factory Stocks, KM Construction Xtreme Fours and Leisure Living Factory Fours.

Time trials at 6 p.m. with racing to follow at 7 p.m.
