Cory Horner Scores OSCAAR Modified Hat Trick at Peterborough

Starting on pole for the 40-lap feature, Cory Horner did not look back as he led flag-to-flag en route to the OSCAAR Modified victory at Peterborough Speedway.

Kelly Balson won the first heat ahead of A.J. Emms, Dan Price, Jase Cornell, Branden Bullen, Duane Cinnamon, and Anthony Simone.

John Harper won the second heat ahead of Mike Hearty, Jeff Showler, Dale Reinhart, Jason Bowden, Wally Wilson, and Raymond Anthony.

Cory Horner won the third heat ahead of Gary Elliott, Luke Gignac, Bob Franks, Jason Keen, and Rob Di Venanzo.

A.J. Emms won the fourth heat ahead of Reinhart, Balson, Bowden, Cornell, Simone, and Wilson.

Cory Horner went for the daily double ahead of Gignac, Showler, Hearty, Keen, Harper, and Anthony.

Duane Cinnamon won the sixth heat ahead of Elliott, Franks, Price, Bullen, and Di Venanzo.

Come feature time, it’d be Cory Horner and Jeff Showler leading the field to green, but it didn’t take long for the action to heat-up. Contact mid-pack resulted in Mike Hearty climbing the backstretch wall, with Bowden caught up in the wreck in the process. Both drivers were okay, but done for the event in the early stages.

As noted, Cory Horner would lead flag-to-flag in the 40-lap main event, scoring his second win of the season to give him back the points lead with no finishes outside of the top-eight all year.

A.J. Emms worked his way to the front, using a pair of mid-race restarts to move up to finish second for his second podium of the season. Jeff Showler was credited with third post-race, giving the rookie a third podium for 2018. John Harper placed fourth to keep his string alive of no finishes outside of the top-seven this year, with Dale Reinhart in fifth for his third consecutive top-five.

Luke Gignac placed sixth for his third consecutive top-six of the season, with Gary Elliott in seventh for his third straight top-10. Dan Price finished eighth for a season-best, followed by Jase Cornell in ninth for his third consecutive top-10. Bob Franks rounded out the top-10 for his first career OSCAAR Modified top-10.

Jason Keen finished 11th, followed by Branden Bullen, Wally Wilson, Duane Cinnamon, Rob Di Venanzo, Anthony Simone, Raymond Anthony, Mike Hearty, and Jason Bowden. Kelly Balson crossed the finish line in third, but was moved to the tail of the field after failing post-race technical inspection.
