KENNINGTON SCORES PODIUM FINISH IN CASTROL EDGE DODGE

August 19, 2018. DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team continued to perform at a high level during round number nine of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday at Riverside International Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scotia this past Sunday.  Kennington grabbed a third place finish in the 300-lap event, his sixth top five finish of the season.

Rain showers postponed the race from its originally scheduled date on Saturday.  Despite having only 30 minutes of practice in a compressed schedule Kennington showed plenty of speed in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge. With qualifying cancelled Kennington would begin the race from fifth on the grid, based on championship points.

When the green flag waved Kennington was hustling the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge and looking to move forward in the field.  As the race moved toward the first of two scheduled caution periods for service, Kennington had fallen a couple of positions and chose to stop for service.  “We discovered a slow leak in the right rear tire and we had to make a last minute change,” explained the driver.  “That set us back in the field”.

Kennington fought his way back toward the front of the field and as the race hit the second opportunity for he had powered the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge back into the top ten.

Following a pit stop for fuel and fresh tires Kennington was again pushing the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge toward the front of the field.  In the closing laps of the race he maneuvered into third position and take the checkered flag with a podium finish.

“This was a good day for us” he said afterwards.  “We had a little setback but it didn’t throw us, we handled it.  And this shows we’ve got our program back to where we expect to be, we just need a little luck and we’ll be grabbing wins” he added.

Kennington’s consistent results this season have benefited him in the standings.  After nine events DJ Kennington sits fifth in the overall championship, a single point back of fourth spot.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge is back in action as part of the NASCAR Truck Series weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, ON August 25th& 26th.
