Late-Model Meeting - Resume.
« on: October 30, 2006, 04:56:58 PM »
Late Model drivers Meeting had a surprise guest as Tom Curley, one of North America's premier race track owner/ promoter's and head of the ACT (American Canadian Tour - Late-Model Sportsmen Series) who was in town on business and was pleased to be part of the meeting.  Does this mean that another announcement is coming, well I guess one would have to stay tuned to this web site to find out. The meeting itself was very well attended and the excitement for stock car racing is still very evident even after the season has been over this long. There were a few changes in the rules for next year which we will lay out below.

---

RULE CHANGES COMING OUT OF LATE MODEL MEETING: OCT. 28/06

Late Model drivers meeting which was held at Kenyon Racing Products on Wed Oct 25th was very well attended and the excitement for late model racing has only grown since the close of the season from what I could see. As mentioned earlier Tom Curley of ACT was present to give us his valued opinion of where stock car racing on small tracks is headed and I believe we fit into his projection of the future. Some small rule changes that came out of the meeting are as follows in point form, of which they will be added to the rule page later on.

Are things going to be exciting well here is an except from an email we received the day after the meeting, (going Late model racing next year and now we will be looking to buy ACT cars either new or a year old.)

RULE CHANGES FOR 2007

1. Late Model will go back to a two tire rule for the 2007 season, that will be policed completely.

2. Line ups will done as they were last year based on the current points standings

3. Heat races however will be split, with the top half points chase drivers competing in one heat, and the second half points cars running in a separate heat, this is what we set out to do last year if we reached 16 cars. Last year we averaged 12 cars per night IN our first season of late model. this year we will split the fields for the heat races. Now the fans will see two different sets of LMS cars for each heat race, the drivers of the lower points positions will not have to race with the higher points cars for one heat which will keep them up in the points, well you get the picture. Now our goal is to get every heat race for late models sold and be able to pay heat race winners ($100. to win) for there efforts, which should spread the wealth around a little more, which is what we want to happen.

4. Eight inch tire, which is the same as ACT, and all of the series cars in Quebec, and what we are already on.

5. For OUR regular shows we will continue for 2007 to run the combined class's of cars, like the program we did in 2006. However this is our last year of doing so and 2008 will see full late model, crate engine class of cars at the speedway. As explained at the meeting crate engines can be purchased through West Carleton Automotive where they will come out sealed by our tech director Dave Brown.
