2014 season in review at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Tuesday, December 9, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – The 2014 season now in the books at Cornwall Motor Speedway, it is time to review the key events and championships over the course of last summer.

The Jiffy Auto Services Modified division championship went down to the wire as Carey Terrance collected his 6th win of the season on the final night of points and he finished only 2 points ahead of Stephane Lafrance with Chris Raabe completed the podium. Brian McDonald and Laurent Ladouceur also had solid season finishing the season in the top 5. Terrance was on fire in the last portion of the season as he won 4 of the last 5 races. With his second spot behind Terrance in the final Canadian Nationals event, Lafrance secured his second Nationals title with only 4 points over Terrance. Chris Raabe won the Doiron Cup Heat Championship.

Corey Wheeler won his first title in the very competitive Wheeler-Forget Royal Lepage Sportsman division. Wheeler and Shane Pecore were in battle for the points lead for a good part of the summer as Pecore had issues with his car on the last night combined with Wheeler winning his third feature of the season. Defending champion, Joey Ladouceur came in third while Ryan Stabler and Louie Jacksonjr, completed the top 5. Mathieu Desjardins won the very strong Seaway-Lussier Sportsman Series, a second title in a row for Desjardins.

Dave Bissonnette had another strong season in the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division winning a second title in a row with a total of 3 wins over the season finishing in front of Jocelyn Roy and Stephane Lebrun. Bissonnette had a perfect score capturing also the RSI heat championship while Stephane Lemire won his first Mohawk Race Parts Pro-Stock Series title.

The Laminacorr Semi-Pro division saw veteran racer Junior Delormier winning the title as Chris James got the championship in the Mini-Stock division.

Mother Nature did cooperate this summer with only 1 cancellation on a possibility of 17 shows. Along with the Canadian Nationals, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car gave another great show at the end of July as the Super DIRTcar Big Block Series ended June in fashion.

Great things are in the works for 2015 as already key events are scheduled with the visit of the Circuit Pro Tour during the final weekend of January. The return of the World of Outlaws Late Models on June 21st and the Super DIRTcar Big Block Series the next week-end. Several improvements were done at the speedway during the last few weeks to increase security for drivers and race fans.
In the meantime, the Lavergne Family would like to wish happy holidays to race teams, sponsors and race fans! Stay tuned as some new announcements will occur in early 2015.
