Video On Main Page
« on: September 24, 2006, 01:37:18 PM »
Just wondering what’s up with the video on the main page?  Is it an advertisement?  Here is the link in case it disappears:

Anyways, it looks like the R Factor stock cars have improved by leaps and bounds since I last tried them out a few months back, I was very impressed.  In my opinion, at least visually, it appears to put the NASCAR EA game to shame, especially the damage model at the end. :D

I wonder if they've made it any easier to import cars...

Any thoughts?

Can't help but think this other simulation, “iRacing” this is going to be the wave of the future though...
http://www.iracing.com/tracks_stafford.htm

Hoping the costs on that simulation will be reasonable.  I used to really enjoy 2003 season, but I just find the way the cars react to be far to sensitive for my tastes - there's just absolutely no way to recover a spinning car!  Great game with great online capabilities and modding, but unfortunately a victim of the EA / NASCAR alliance.  The iRacing game picks up literally where 2003 left off – same code, many of the same programmers etc.  Should be very interesting if it ever makes it to the market.

No - It's a game, just a very...  very sophisticated one.

A lot of questions swirl around what the final product will actually be.  Many believe that it will be a monthly subscription dealie (which I think is a TERRIBLE idea).

Either way, the graphics shown and their attention to detail are second to none.  And not to mention that it’s the same guys that put out Nascar Racing 2003, in fact they purchased their own code from papyrus before it went under as a base to work from.

iRacing along with rFactor are good examples of what can be done without the “Big N”.

Sorry Mobil1, haven't posted the cars yet, but I haven't forgotten your request.  Just been very busy lately and haven't fired up the old 2003 CD.

Is this where I should put my shameless plug of a 2006 CASCAR mod for Nascar Racing 2003?

If anyone picks up the latest copy of NASCAR Illustrated magazine (do they even sell that up here) it has a real good article on the whole "sim racing" thing and why it is so popular.

There's also an article here about it. Link

Video games have come a long way in recent years.
