Well Ladies and Gents what a spectacular evening it was shaping up to be, @ the dump on the hump, there was clouds in the sky and Thunder in your ear but it was from a different source not so much from LLM or 4cyl /4 fun but the thunders where going to be such a show the only way I can describe it is "supercalafragilisticexpaldosous" the rain was holding of beside a small spatter here and there, "The Deuce" showed with his well prepped bullet and was instantly a fast 5 car and crowd pleaser, as the usual Sunset suspects were finding their "A game".  Then apon receiving a few text messages infoming us that Barrie had cancelled, a bevy of fast thunders made their entrance to the pits they list included "Flying" (one handed I might add) Frank Davey,  Eddie "The Eagle" Trembly, Chance Isherwood and Rick Walt.  The thunders instantly went form having 4-5 cars that could win to 10-12 all having to come from the back "Oh Yeah" this was going to be a show and a half, then in the 4 fun feature it's reared it's ugly head and blam there it was "The Kibosh" as Nicole Podiwels found her way into the opening in the front stretch wall,  I do hope Nicole is OK but from what I understand it was the track rentameds that called the show, killing any hope of the amazing Thunder show that would've had new owner Wes Good drooling in amazement,  now onto the tech side of things  Kevin Reynolds (R I M Chassis) was in with "The Deuce"  as he made it through tech with only a few small details, well upon Tremblys arrival in his new gen the crying began as tech had it explained that the chassis themselves have zero difference and run at a 7" ride hight not 6"  the bewilderment was undeniable, as I heard many complaints you know what I began to think.......yep  I didn't know we were on the beach LOL that's right  more sand!  here you have 4-5 fast cars that just showed up to support your track and how do you repay them that's right you pick the cars apart pissing and moaning about SWEET FA!!!!  come on Sunset get with the program here same weights means let's get atter!!!  although Tech got it all sorted out in a timely fashion and had a relatively open mind (Thanks Ted and Fred)  upon cancellation of the night no monies where returned to those who didn't even hit the track,  now call me silly and I'm in no way shape or form a business man but Wes that is just plain straight old BAD BUSINESS!!! you had a chance to steal a few cars from a rival track and basically said "No Thanks" but I can tell you how you can fix it and get even more thunders for next year!!!! but all in all I must say it was going to be a great night reminding me much of the summer of '06 in 2 thunder heats with "The Deuce" being persued by Herb Walters and "The Deuce" being the persuer in the other match up!!!  good racing was a foot and great racing was shaping up, but we can't cry over spilt milk right, I just hope it can happen again cause I what to see it heck we could even add in Reyns,Remmington, and Mayhew Oh Baby what a race that would be!!
just on a side note I'd thought for a moment that Casey Mears had mad the trip aswell but soon noticed it was  "Straight Shooter" Steve Slaughter Jr. in a very well tailored new suit looking like a driver determined to take care of business!!  nice suit Stevie!!

Now in order to steal some competition Wes I promise you if you repave Sunset and use the good stuff you will have to turn cars away next season do to over capacity in every class!!  that place would be  "Ludicrously" fast with grip!!  I can tell you I would be there with bells on!!  we're all racers and live and die with the need for speed now please give us a new fix!!!!

P.S.  We don't wear suits and ties,  we wear fire suits and have fire in our eyes, don't try to change what made racing what it is today embrace it and take the ride!!!  Barrie Speedway best get it's head on straight soon!!

Did Sunset actually turn these Drivers away? If so, this sure is a black mark on their part.Racing is racing, isn,t it. What a shame. That would have been the race of the year.

Ah yes double features but I'd still trade both of them for that one Thunder car one that got away! who knows maybe another rain out for Barrie next week that would be excellent and I'll put the word out to the Kawartha boys see if we can't have us a "Humdinger"

man i wanted to run sooo bad....and I got all the 24 cars max and stuff but the attitude we got from baldy and not getting the money back really turned me off...we saw 1 feature and King of the Hill.

meh, we will see if we head to the frosty....i just wanna say the rest of the staff was really nice besides the girl and baldy who hung out in the tech area....she hated barrie and he was a cocky sob.

And we all thought $22.00 For 2 heats and a Feature was bad. The closser you get to the top the worst you are treated.

I couldn't make it last nightbut something really pissed me off, I sent my kids 11 and 8 with their grandpa to watch the races, both of my kids have been going to these races for 5+ years, my 11 yo son is with me in the pits every saturday I am there. I gave them both 20 bucks each to by some pizza and crap and found out this morning we have yet another smokin' bonus on the list of new schitt with Wes....both these kids had to surrender that 20 bucks each to get into the pits with gramps.
I understand up untill a couple years ago kids were not allowed in the pits, this was something Glenn did and was a great thing for families that race. As well I would not have a problem ponying up a few bucks to pay to get them in, charging an 11 and 8 year old 20 bucks each is BS.

12 and under free at BSW and Students are 10 bucks that will be the last time SS chokes any money from me for my kids.
