MINI STOCK TOUR BRINGS “PASSIONE” TO SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD SATURDAY

(Dartmouth, NS - June 19th, 2018) - The MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour is setting up for one of their biggest races in their short two year history. The Tour heads to Scotia Speedworld outside of Enfield, Nova Scotia this Saturday for the Passione Flooring and Interiors 50. The race serves as the second round of seven on the Tour and approximately two dozen Honda Civics are expected to compete. The racing action begins on Saturday, June 23rd at 6pm and also includes the Nova Truck Centres Make a Wish 150 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour.

For many of the MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour drivers, Scotia Speedworld serves as their home race track. Scotia Speedworld may not have started the Mini Stock division in Atlantic Canada but the track’s Thunder division certainly laid the foundation for what has become the East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Defending Series champion Tim Webster (Beaver Bank), current point leader Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) and the Warren brothers (Matthew and Andrew, White’s Lake) have seven track championships and dozens of wins in the track’s Thunder division between them and have to be considered favorites in the Passione Flooring and Interiors 50.

To add to that total, the J.R. Lawson Racing entry will be driven by two-time Scotia Speedworld track champion and current Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour driver Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie).

The Scotia Speedworld Thunder division has produced four different winners in four races and all have signaled intentions to compete on Saturday. Neil Miousse (Kentville), Darren Flemming (Rawdon), Chris Hatcher (Beaver Bank) and Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) all know their way around the 3/10-mile oval and are looking for their second victories at home in 2018.

Drew MacEachern (Dartmouth), Mark Williams (Elmsdale), Joey Lawson (Porter’s Lake), Jason Pickles (Meaghers Grant) and David Hibbs (Upper Sackville) all have local race wins at the track in the past but are missing an MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour race win on their resume. They will look to add the Passione Flooring and Interior 50 trophy to their case after 50-laps on Saturday.

The field of former race winners at the track alone is impressive but when you add the deep talent that has limited to no starts at Scotia Speedworld with stacked racing resumes, the Passione Flooring and Interiors 50 shapes up as an instant classic.

Matt Watson (Miscouche, PE) leads a talented field of drivers that will look to take the Passione Flooring and Interiors 50 trophy away from Nova Scotia on Saturday. Watson is a multi-time feature winner at Oyster Bed Speedway and is a two-time Eastern Super Mini Cup Series champion. Jamie Cummings (Charlottetown, PE), Cody Byrne (Orwell Cove, PE) and Tyler Larkin (Montague, PE) comprise the quartet from Prince Edward Island looking to take the trophy back across the Confederation Bridge on Saturday.

Chris Garnett (Havelock, NB) is the lone New Brunswick entrant in the field. With a strong start to the season at Petty International Raceway and Brad Daley as the crew chief, Garnett is more than ready to tackle his first Scotia Speedworld race.

A number of drivers will make their first MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour starts of the season. Among those scheduled to compete include Jeffrey Davidson (Inverness), Brandon MacMillan (Glace Bay), Greg McKay (Eastern Passage) and Richard Ramsay (Halifax).

James Sample (Antigonish), former NAPA Sportsman Series driver, will make his MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour debut on Saturday. Former Scotia Speedworld Lightning champion Marc MacMillan (Glenholme) will slide into the seat of the No. 33 car for Jerome Tracey. Taylor MacLean (New Glasgow) will line up for his second start of the season.
