Hartman Completes Sweep At Full Throttle
« on: July 07, 2014, 12:46:40 PM »
Varney, On-  Fans at Full Throttle Motor Speedway this past Friday night where treated to a couple of firsts to go down in the history books.  To start the night off fans got to meet an incredible young man by the name of Morgan Robson from Utopia who despite being born with no legs races a Mini Stock with the use of hand controls.  This was Morgan’s first trip to the highbanks and on top of racing in the three Mini Stock features this night he also was helped into the flag stand to flag one of the Pro Late Model features and looked as comfortable doing that as he did behind the wheel of his race car.

In the Mini Stock division it was a combination of a great handling car, excellent driving, timely cautions and a little old fashion luck that all came together for 51 Clark Hartman from Waterloo as he would take all three of the twenty lap features securing his name in the history book.  In feature one 51 would use pole position to his advantage as he opened up an early lead on the rest of the field only to have it taken away with cautions at Lap 8 and 10 closing up the field.  In the end this victory would be over 36 Corry Young of Owen Sound, third went to 85 Bill Clarke from Mount Forest, fourth 5 Craig Kamrath from Owen Sound and rounding out the top five 7 Paul Boyd of Harriston.  Feature two with the inversion of the starting order would see Clark Hartman have to work his way from the back of the pack this time.  This race seemed to be all but over for Hartman and the rest of the field as 5 Craig Kamrath was easily driving away from the rest of the pack then with two laps to go his car ended up at the top of corner two pointed towards the pits.  On the restart for the green white checker 51 Hartman would find himself starting on the outside of 85 Bill Clarke but was able to use the highline to gain enough of an edge to hold off Clarke at the line, followed by 73 Scott Schlueter from Milverton, in fourth was 9 Tessa Cremasco from Mount Forrest and rounding out the top five was 35 Tim Tolton from Guelph. Video of this feature can be seen at  http://youtu.be/c9AB0i-rqcc  Feature three of the night would again see 51 Clark Hartman starting from the back of the pack and again working his way through the pack and again another late race caution would bring the field back together with four laps to go.  This time 51 Hartman would set up on the outside of 7 Paul Boyd on the restart and again his car would be fast on the highline allowing him to clear the leader and claim his third checker.  Second this time was 36 Corry Young, third 7 Paul Boyd, fourth 85 Bill Clarke and rounding out the top five was 35 Tim Tolton.

In Pro Late Model this week feature one would see no cautions but a lot of close hard racing in the end it would be 11 Cole Weber from New Hamburg taking the checker, second was 1 Kent Nuhn from Desboro, third 76 Tyler Williams of Chesley, fourth 77 Alvin McNicol from Exeter and rounding out the top five was 40 Mark Dixon from Durham.  Feature two of the night saw the excitement factor turned up to high as the battle of the night would be up front between 11 Weber and 12 Justin McLellan from Mount Forest.  McLellan would get the early lead with Weber doing everything he could to get past but a slight bobble by McLellan with two laps to go would give Weber the lead and then the excitement started.  As 12 McLellan worked to regain the lead from the 11 of Weber as they went into corner four coming to the checker the 4 Bruce Hutchinson from Palmerston would get loose and check up causing a chain reaction with the 17 of Matt Clarke from Mount Forest which in turn would collect the leader Weber ten feet from the finish line allowing 12 Justin McLellan to slip around on the outside to claim the victory.  Second would be 76 Tyler Williams, third 1 Kent Nuhn, fourth 40 Mark Dixon and rounding out the top five was 77 Alvin McNicol.  Video of this feature can be seen at  http://youtu.be/HrHRmU98wis

Pure Stock this week the drivers got back to good hard fast racing and provided why they are the up and coming drivers at the speedway.  In feature one it would be 17 Nick Clarke from Mount Forest working his way through the field to add another checker to his collection this season.  Second went to 43 Joey Schouten of Mount Forest, third 34 Don Tremble of Durham, fourth 14 Luke Bos from Conn and rounding out the top five 95 Jonathon Bates from Owen Sound.  Feature two would again see some great hard racing but we would add a new first time winner to the checker paint at the end of this one.  In the early going it was 34 Don Tremble who got out front early only to find the 17 Nick Clarke in his mirror, after doing everything he could all Tremble could do was watch as Clarke got past him and looked like he was ready to put another one in the books.  But on lap 14 #17 would run into mechanical issues which forced him to the pits allowing  34 to jump to the top of the leader board again where he would remain to claim his first ever checker flag. Second this time would go to 95 Jonathon Bates, third 14 Luke Bos, fourth was 5 Lyle Lorenz from Listowel and rounding out the top five 43 Joey Schouten.

In Crazy Trains this week fans saw something we don’t see every week with all sets of Trains only needing minimal repairs after finishing both sets of features.  In feature one it would be Here We Go Again from Listowel making the run to the checker, second Rockford Rednecks, third Jonathon Bates Roofing from Owen Sound, forth Road Rage Therapy from Mount Forest and rounding out the top five Texas Traincar Massacre from Mount Forest.  Feature two would see Texas Traincar Massacre rebound from their infield finish in feature one to take the checker, second again was Rockford Rednecks, third Here We Go Again, fourth Jonathon Bates Roofing and rounding out the top five Road Rage Therapy.

Next racing action will be this coming Friday July 11th as the highbanks welcome Pro Late Models, V8 Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks and the Crazy Trains!  Things as always kick off at 7:30 5KM’s south of Durham for full information check us out on the web at www.fullthrottlemotorspeedway.com or on Facebook at Full Throttle.
