ISMA AT DELAWARE-TOO PRICEY???
« on: September 20, 2006, 10:00:41 PM »
general admission is $39.00 ($35.00 in advance). Seems high compared to some of the ISMA American shows, considering the support divisions are the mods and enduro cars.
Time wise also, appears there are time trials at 6 for the local mods and racing at 7. Just think this might be too early for a lot of folks from outside the London area to get there in time. Anyone thinking the same way?

You'd spend that much in gas going to one of the American shows...and look at the forecasted temps for that nite,,,the earlier, the better.......ask the Boss to let you out a few hours earlier....or phone in sick on Friday. The mods put on a great show, and both of their features are for their championship points.

Yep. We've been spoiled by very reasonable "special event" ticket prices here for a long time now at Delaware. The Supers can't be a cheap show to put on, and I don't begrudge the price.

See ya on the 29th.

I begrudge the admission charge at Delaware as the next night at Berlin, ISMA is running with the Auto Value Super Sprints, and USAC Midgets, plus one other division for $20.00  general admission ($25.00 pits) with Johny Benson having a ISMA ride.Who's zooming who here? It's just seems steep after Cayuga's $25.00 2005 ISMA show. Only seniors seem to be catching a break at Delaware on this show.

Mike save your money and go to a hockey game and hey you might even get to read about it in the Hamilton Spec.

All kidding aside if you like the ISMA's you will go and watch the show. I am heading off to Rolling Wheels Raceway to watch a friend of mine race where it will probably cost $30.00 US for the pits to get dirt in my face.  8)

Have fun at the Wheels, RW. (Which DIRT sportsman team you going with-P38 by any chance?) It's just that the pricing for this ISMA show is not family friendly so I suspect you'll see all the hardcore  fans but not the occasional fan who promoters need to woo back to the tracks more regularly. What would you guess the pit admission for Delaware might be. I suppose if they make enough $$$$, they might be able to repave to old girl!
(PS-I do go to 40+ hockey games a year (Hamilton Bulldogs)-amazing how many racers you see there-the Erskines, Lyons, Fargnollis, etc.)

heh...fat lot of good it did them too. The track was lying dormant this year until the new guys bought it. I don't know that the Cayuga of 5 years ago would serve as much of a business model.

Just sayin...

point taken. Apparently Oswego charged $40.00 US for last weeks ISMA show  (info from John Flach in Rochester) won by Bentley Warren in Perley's back up car, so perhaps Delaware isn't quite as out of wack as I figured. Guess I'd pay the Delaware tariff if I knew old Ben was going to be there for sure. Just wondering how JB's track in Michigan does it for twenty bucks along with all those other top divisions unless a major sponsor is throwing in some serious cash, plus the crowd at Berlin could be double what we might expect here.
Heard there might be meeting between ISMA and MSA to try and adopt a common set of rules. MSA now allows 410 sprint cars to run as supers so things might get interesting next season.

That actually sounds like a pretty good show. Wish it was closer. Thats a hell of a doubleheader.

In the case of Canadian shows, I wonder if its got something to do with needing to guarantee a higher payout, just on the basis of the border hassles etc. Maybe they got burned by the Cayuga shows and decided the price was going up.

Anyway, I agree that it's not exactly a family friendly price point...but in this case, I don't think they're going after the casual Friday night fan.
