Opening night jitters are GONE
« on: May 08, 2011, 03:08:26 AM »
What a fabulous opening night! Thanks to all the drivers, crew and fans and of course the fantastic staff at Barrie Speedway. You all are the reason we bought this track! Nice to see all of the old friendly faces along with the all the new friends we are meeting. All lights are green and we're back in business. This year is gonna be one fabulous ride.

I thought things went really well myself Diane.. The concessions were vastly improved with your people at the helm.. Both in food quality and more importantly food prices.. ;D I didnt get to see much of you or Rick last night, but thought you also might like to know the race program went equally as well.. One slight line up delay at the beginning of the PS feature (that never should of happened) was about the only hickup that I saw..On behalf of the drivers and staff thanks for showing an interest in "our racetrack" and getting it back in the hands of "race folk"..

well when you have more then 9 cars on a track they tend to sometimes get into each other. And i personally didnt see an upset driver just an unfortunate incident

1 accident all night long, cant ask for a better night of racing by the drivers,i think you can chalk up the lack of on track incidents to an awful lot of experience combined by all the veterans in all the classes. With the big number of cars on the track at the same time in all the classes, you would have thought there would have been more accidents, great driving by all the drivers at sunset. If anything i think your going to see even more drivers making an appearance at sunset in the future.

I had a question concerning the racing at sunset, and I posted it in a sunset thread, this was it,

I've watched the video a few times, and man that was tough. Baker was in, and almost had that pass made, so who is the one that has to lift? Should the 48 have stayed down a bit? Maybe. Should the 19 lifted a little? Maybe. Tough call, but I'll say this, I don't wanna be the one putting a clip on my car after opening night.
Something else i was wondering. Why wasn't a caution thrown when that car spun down in 3 and 4 while the field was coming for the white? The car spins coming for white, the leaders take the white, it looks like the 47 was looking inside of the leaders to make it three wide and he lifts. It looks to me, and i could be wrong, but it looks like his spotter tells him of the car laying there. Then Tony sort of has to avoid the car, and race for the win at the same time. Has anyone asked about it? If you look at the lights, it looks like the green and the yellow lights are showing at the same time, then the caution light is the lone light showing. Then the leaders take the caution and checkered at the same time.

Since sunset seems to be getting discussed here, I've reposted it here. Was it just a mistake?

I too was wondering about the 84 of Cronan being left turned around for what looks like a lap and a half.. Heard to tell if car was fully off the track or not but doesnt look like it to me.. Would agree it looks like the 47 lifts from a potential 3 wide move entering 3..

the caution for the 48 and 19. they came down and told the drivers that this would be the last restart. so thats why the caution and the checkeres was thrown at the same time.

Wow, is everyone ok with this? There was one accident all night and this is the result? There must be a little more to it.

Sounds like they had a little rougher night at Barrie than they did at Sunset? The above post was from Thayne.

Everyone I have talked to though have said that the new ownership group did well and were very pleased with the effort put in so far. Congrats on your first night guys and gals

Back in the day when RACING was really good they started 24 cars every night in the Feature & you had to Qualify threw heats & some went on the trailer & sems to me there were a few crashes but no excuse for crashes with 9 cars "just BRAIN FAILURE" !

What I am getting at is the statement made by Gary, the "Wreckest" at Sunset when there was 1 accident only and how there are unhappy drivers blah blah blah. So I used your statement about your car "Looking like it had just been through autumn colours on the first night of the season" as an example that each track had their incidents. I just find it funny that someone is on here already starting the whole "oooooooo I hear that this track is getting more drivers because that track was a wreckfest, or they are all unhappy, etc..." and it is just the first week so far.

Barrie has new owners that actually give a damn about the drivers finally and people are starting to make satements like above already and we are 1 week in. The new owners have said they want to work with Sunset FINALLY so why come on here and try and stir the pot?

Nobody came on here and started anything about Barrie Speedway in a negative fashion or tried to start rumours about them, if anything, people congratualted them.

Thats what I am trying to get at....
