what number should dale jr run. has he earned enough respect for 3 or should he run hendrick 5 or shoud mommy let the 8 go or 88 as he has in the past.

Dale Jr is Dale Jr. His fans are his fans, no matter what number he drives. I really don't think it matters.

I think it'll be 5 though.

I think #3 should be retired. I think SR. deserves that! Jr will never be the racer that SR was. Let him race 5. He is selling out by going to hendricks anyway!

i like the 85 idea not too many tattoo changes. and yeah i do not think he has earned the #3. that might have to be saved for the grandson kerry's kid.

I guess if your a racer, you run the number they give you and be thankful you have a chance to race. In the scheme of things, from the drivers seat, it doesn't much matter what number is decaled on the door. "They'll know what car I'm in by the end of the race"

Why would you say that? People tend to hate people that do well and that was the case with Dale SR as well.

I am also with racer. I see him driving the #81 car !
As far as the #5 goes, it was already announced that Casey Mears would drive the 5 car next year.
As for the #3. I think Dale Jr later on in his career will retire under the #3. At least that's what he publicly announced earlier in the year!
but really a couple of you guys are right. you can't see the number on the so does it really matter! maybe he should have a 3 digit number...lol
