DAY OF FIRSTS FOR CFS DRIVERS

SEPT 14, 2014

Shediac, NB - Shediac's CFS  completed round 4 for the Maritime Super Series of Racing tonight after a 2 hour delayed event caused by early morning rain.  Car counts were up slightly as Teams from throughout the region competed and used the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Atlantic Championships on Oct 4th and 5th.  Once the day started it quickly became one for the record books.  In the Sportsman Division it was Bert Cormier of Bouctouche who snared his first ever Sportsman Division title with a win in the heats and Semi and Dan Duke of Lakeville takning the feature event and his first checkered flag in a Sportsman event since 1997.

In Street Stock it was "Big Bad Brad" MacLean out of Black River winning the Super Series for Street Stocks.   Bob Prosser of Moncton however added another first as he took his first checkered flag as a Street Stock competitor winning the heat race and then placing 3rd in the Feature.  James Matchett of Miramichi got his first checkered flag in the Street Stock at CFS winning the Semi final which was also good enough to place him third overall in the series.  Joel Clancy also of the Miramichi got his first win at CFS taking the checkers in the feature.   Justin McInnis of PEI was second..

The firsts continued in Mini Stock where Patti Taylor raced to her first ever Feature win which was made especially sweet by the fact that it was the first time her children ever watched her race.  JR Lawson of Shubenacadie, NS took the overall Super Series of Mini Stock title finishing in second and Eldon Campbell was third overall.

Finally, the Mini Cup Tour was also on hand and they provided some excitement with some long runs of side by side aracing action.  When all was said and done it was rookie driver Amanda Wheatly of PEI winning her first ever checkered at the CENTRE in the Heats and then in the Feature.  Derek Goodwin was second in the feature and Chris Wilson placed third.  Mini Cups did not run a Semi.

The running time for the event was 2 hours and 14 minutes.  The next event at the CENTRE is on Oct 3, 4 and 5 - The Atlantic Stock Car Championships.  Monster Trucks visit the CENTRE on Oct 18th and 19th.
