Farrell’s Racing Sails into Scotia Tire 50 with Championship Lead

Alex Pacheco of Devo Motorsports to pilot #48 car in Saturday’s fourth round

(Dartmouth, NS - August 11th, 2016) - The Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour will contest the fourth round of their eight race season this coming Saturday, August 13th, at Scotia Speedworld. The Scotia Tire 50 will mark the halfway point in a season that has already given fans lots to talk about in the first three events of the year. The Scotia Tire 50 is a part of the 17th Annual Atlantic Cat 250 weekend. Qualifying gets underway on Saturday at 5pm.

The Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour season kicked off at Scotia Speedworld back in May with Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) scoring the victory in the Farrell’s Racing #48 car. The car has been piloted by Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) in the last two events and when combined, the two drivers have put the car into the championship lead on the series. The #48 car will be driven by Alex Pacheco (Kannapolis, NC) on Saturday. Pacheco is a well known name in Legend car racing and will look make good on his first start Saturday at the 3/10-mile Scotia Speedworld.

After a top five showing in the Island Coastal Services and Steve’s Snow Removal 50 at Oyster Bed Speedway, rookie Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) has moved to second in the standings. MacDonald, a former Bandolero feature winner at Scotia Speedworld, has impressed in the first half of his freshman year driving for Mark Whynot and the Overall Experience driver development program. MacDonald sits 14 points in the rearview of Farrell’s Racing heading into Saturday.

The most experienced Legend driver within the top five in points is Acadia University student Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines). After a stumble in the last round at Oyster Bed Speedway, Meehan has fallen to third in the standings, a dozen markers out of second place. Meehan is in her sixth year of full-time competition in a Legend car and is a former runner-up in the championship on the Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour.

Sophomore drivers Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) and Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) have slid into the top five in points as the season nears the midway point. Hall was the winner of the Island Coastal Services and Steve’s Snow Removal 50 at Oyster Bed Speedway on July 30th while Meehan, the younger Meehan sibling on the series, has shown constant improvement in his second year driving a Legend car. One point is the separation between Hall and Meehan in the standings after three races.

The Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour has attracted an average of 21 cars over the first three races of the season and a stout field is expected to be on hand Saturday to vie for the Scotia Tire 50 trophy.
