PICTON, Ont. – June 21, 2017 – Tim Kerr has proven several times in his racing career and again through the first two months of the 2017 season that his Village Variety/Home Hardware Picton No.07 has plenty of speed to compete with the best Big-Block Modified racing has to offer. He even beat the best 18 months ago on the sport’s biggest stage in Charlotte. Now, he needs a little bit of luck to help him regain the results that validate the hard work he puts into his program.

Last weekend, after earning a heat race win, Kerr was running inside the top-five during the Feature at Brewerton Speedway on Friday night and digging for more when the fuel belt pump came off with nine laps to go.

“We had a spectacular car on Friday night at Brewerton,” Kerr said. “Things were back to the way they should be, but I had the belt a little too tight and it popped off. It’s too bad because we were starting to roll pretty well. I was looking for a caution at that point. Unfortunately I was the caution.”

Then on Saturday at Fulton Speedway, Kerr struggled in his heat as he worked in a new set of Hoosier Racing tires, but regained speed once the tires were up to temperature. Come Feature time, Kerr was confident he would be able to march his way forward, but engine issues prevented that from occurring.

“We had a good piece all weekend,” Kerr said. “On Saturday we were at the stage where we had to run some tires in. We were starting deep in the field because of that but you have to do that. That put us behind the eight-bal, but the car felt where it should be. Now we can get back to making small changes on it and getting better.”

While Kerr’s latest weekend was less than ideal, he’s confident that he’ll be able to find the consistent finishes he’s been looking for this season.

“We’ve gone back to basics with it a little bit and got things squared around,” Kerr explained. “We got the car so it was driveable and quit trying some off the chart things that were hurting us.”

Kerr will be bolting in his team’s number one power plant for this week’s competition at Brewerton that will complete the month of June. It’s a combination he and Kerr Motorsports team have a better set of notes to prepare.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what we can do,” Kerr said. “Everything is our best equipment now. This is the best we have so hopefully we can start putting up some good finishes and staying out of trouble. Finishing races is what we need to do.”

Kerr is scheduled for just one night of competition this week at Brewerton Speedway on Friday, June 23 as Fulton Speedway sits dormant for graduation weekend south of the border. For additional event information, visit www.brewertonspeedway.com.
