2006 PAYOUTS!!!!
« Reply #15 on: December 13, 2006, 08:49:27 PM »
Delaware has refused a couple of teams their point payout for failing to attend the banquet and not sending a delegate to the banquet.  According to them it's in the rules if you finish in the top 10 you must attend.  I hope everybody gets the money they raced for. but they shouldn't have to chase it or jump through hoops for it.

Let me get this straight:

According to the rules, you must attend the banquet. Its also the place the sponsors go to meet the drivers and the place where competitors can shake the sponsors hands, and show a bit of gratitude for their help in sweetening the pot...and people still actually didn't show up?

Agreed.

But you know, at my holiday dinner, the popular mode of getting a little bit of mashed potatoes on my plate was to simply hold my plate out when the potatoes were getting dished out.

I didn't sit there silent and then wait till January to start complaining that I didn't get any.

That's also pretty simple.

When you make the comittment to show up every week you shouldn't have to commit to an extra nigh in the winter to get the money already earned.  We aren't talking about free money this is money earned.  For many people the banquet is an expense that simply doesn't help their car or their team.  You are further ahead to do something yourself four your crew and sponsors, it's more personal and you can really make a lasting ilmpression.  Just imagine if your employer held back your cheque because you weren't in line at their office when they wanted you there, whether you did your job or not.  I don't go to many banquets for cars I work on, really not my scene.

To quote the section of the Delaware Speedway 2007 rule book,

Page 5, Section 15 of General Regulations:
http://www.delawarespeedway.com/2007%20Rule%20Book.doc
Quote from: "Delaware Speedway 2007 Rule Book"
15.   Two (2) banquet tickets will be provided at no charge for each driver who achieves 80% attendance and finishes in the top 20 in the point standings. Driver must have team representative at year-end banquet to receive year-end point fund money unless prior written permission has been obtained from Delaware Speedway office. Failure to do so will result in forfeit of point fund money.

In other words, as with most issues, (including the one this thread is actually about) communication is key.

Some of you have gotten off my original topic.  Going to the banquet and receiving your year end points payout is one thing but I am talking and asking others that ran in the series and or Grand Bend track if they have gotten their "weekly" payouts that are still owed to them!!
