2009 Race Schedule - Coming Soon!
To the race fans of Cayuga Motor Speedway, as most of you are aware we have delayed the release of our 2009 Race Schedule. The reason for the delay and our plans for the 2009 Race Season at Cayuga Motor Speedway are detailed below:

With the present economic climate that is out there, changes were being made by each race sanction on a weekly basis. Sanctions that had offered races to tracks across North America were forced to re-examine their schedules, only to scale back on originally planned events, affecting many tracks including the Cayuga Motor Speedway. We understand their situations and continue to work with each sanction to allow our fans to receive maximum value for their race ticket. In doing so, we were left with one opening in our schedule and are finalizing the contract for a replacement series to fill it.

Once we have the last of the sanctions in place, we will immediately release the full schedule. Our target schedule release date is February 1, 2009 - with tickets going on sale February 9th, 2009 @ 8:00 a.m.

Some of the series making appearances this year are as follows:

ISMA Supermodifieds
SST Modifieds
Canadian Vintage Modified
Can-Am Midgets
Hurricane Midgets
JCAR Late Models & JCAR Mini Trucks
Ontario Legends
Delaware Late Models
Delaware Street Stocks
Ontario Sportsman Series
ARCA RE/MAX Series
NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
OSCAAR Outlaw Late Models
JCAR Micro-Sprints
Auto Value Bumper To Bumper Sprints
NEMA Midgets
The Crown Late Model Tour
358 Dirt Modified
Limited Late Models
Thunder Cars
PLUS our season finale will feature NASCAR Legend Rusty Wallace, with special guests Kenny Wallace, Jimmy Spencer, Michael Waltrip PLUS five more top NASCAR series drivers!

As we have continued to say, "CAYUGA WILL SHINE IN 2009"

I have a copy of the tentative schedule. As you can see by the sanctioning bodies listed, the 2009 season at Cayuga Speedway should be pretty impressive. Full weekends, lots of racing. Hopefully in this economy it will all hold together.

So what weekend are they saying is the season finale? Is it still the Bristol weekend in August or has it been moved into September?

As it stands now, yes, Bristol weekend is also the season finale at Cayuga. The Nascar drivers are supposed to be there on Sunday, August 23rd.

A 35 lap Thunder Car Invitational is listed on July 25th. This is the only one I see listed as of now. This of course is unofficial. The official schedule should be posted soon.

JCAR can't be in two places at one time. The JCAR schedule has all races at Grandbend. It is unfortunate that JCAR wont be in Cayuga... I was looking forward to it.

Wel well, just went to Cayuga's site and the May 30th date has disappeared from the countdown ticker. June 27th is now shown as the first date but if you click on buy tickets May 30th is still there. It's starting to look like these guys can't organise a two car funeral  ???

With the date on the counter now reading June 26th as next event by the looks of the ARCA schelude that is the weekend they are scheluded to race there.Maybe they are moving the race to the Saturday instead of Sunday June 27th.Guess we will just have to wait and hear what they have to say on Race Time Radio on Monday March 30th.

OSCAAR is there on Saturday night along with some support events. The ARCA site still shows June 28 for Cayuga.

I too have far too much time on my hands!
The Cayuga website now list 3 racing weekends: June 27/28; July 11/12: August 22/23.
From the series website schedules, it looks like the following:
June 27/28 - ARCA Remax; ARCA Trucks; OSCAAR
July 11/12 - ISMA: Vintage Modifieds; Ontario Legends

Both should be decent weekends.

The August 22/23 weekend is mystery. If this is the weekend for the previously announced LM, LLM, TC inivitationals, many of the tracks & series whose cars might have come are also racing sometime that weekend.

We will have to wait to hear their plans.

No ARCA trucks unless they changed the plans again.
I would like to see them run the OSCAAR and ARCA cars on the same day. Too far to go unless you are camping.
August is supposed to be the NASCAR deal with Rusty etal. They need something else to run with that though.

Listening to Mr .Santucci on Race Time Radio only thingWas  I got out of his interview was that there were 3 weekends July 27 & 28 ARCA Weekend,July 11-12 Open Wheel Weekend,Aug 23 Race Of Champions.Good to hear but he could not confirm what back up races were with these dates. Was asked about OSCAAR he said he had to check whether they were confirmed.Other surprised comment was that he was talking to OSS .Seems kind of funny OSS was scheluded to race there then they pulled out and are not shown on schelude.Other race cancelled was the $25000.00 Crown Jewel 250.Said sponsors was the problem there and the 1/4 mile track that was to be made has been postponed also. Was asked when schelude would be out he said he hope to have it done with in the next 48 hours as he is going  away.Hope they (Cayuga ) get there act together but something tells me it maybe while before they get it done. Also no mentioning when tickets would go on sale.

I realy question whether Cayuga will be a go here is the ARCA race scheluded for June 28th and as of today no advertising for this event no mentioning about tickets or prices.Jerry Wilcox (OSCAAR) was on Race Time Radio Monday and asked if they were going to be at Cayuga .He said yes and date was June 27th but he was waiting for the signed contract which he had not received yet.The way he put it was if Cayuga was running they would be there .Something just not right there approx 2 weeks ago owner was on and said schelude was coming but as of today still same old thing no schelude ,no addmission prices and no word of advance tickets with less that approx 12 weeks before ARCA would you not push this race now.How long will it be before info from this track comes out.

Dave Didero from OSS was on Race Time Radio tonight and said there are no Cayuga races this year.Said originally 2 were planned but changed (1 Peterboro,1 Flamboro).Looks like interview with Cayuga owner who said he was working to get OSS races did not work out.Mr.Didero said said 27 OSS cars registered ,17-19 could be running for Championship.First race at Peterboro expect 22-24 cars.Sounds like this group is moving on and getting better. As for Cayuga still no word on schelude etc.Not looking to good there.

That would be the best news in years for Cayuga. Glenn and his staff really know how to run a speedway. Ohsweken's facilities are the finest I've ever seen.

June 5 for the schedule doesn't leave much time to sell tickets and promote the ARCA event.

This is funny, but I had a dream about this last night, there were motor graders and dozers building a new dirt track outside the the back stretch gate in the field...

It sure would be nice to know either way.

But of course I don't need the website to be updated to know when the ARCA race is scheduled...

There seems to be a lack of Management for the Speedway, both in Operations and Staffing, and although huge plans were talked about, nothing has happened.
I would be totally surprised to see this track open it's doors in 2009, and the future behond that at this point doesnt look much better.

ARCA says they have a date, as well ISMA says the same thing, but dates are dates and gates are gates, and neither one of them make any sence at this time.

I have always supported Cayuga Speedway in the past, but their lack of concern for different racing series, and the misconcern for the fans has me changing my whole outlook on this race track.

Lets change the heading on this to read.. Cayuga Motorless Speedway 2010 Schedule-
Coming Soon ???

It is a same if this happens. I hear they are having a public open house in fort erie about the Super Speedway they want to build there. It is June 4th I think.

This is the one Gordon has some involvement. Nascar already says they have no plans to race there. Only time will tell.

SO; WAS I THE ONLY ONE WHO DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING GOOD WOULD COME OUT OF THE NEW OWNERSHIP OF THE SPEEDWAY. WHEN THE SALE WAS ANNOUNCED, WITH ALL THOSE WONDERFUL PICTURES OF THE PLACE, I SAID HERE WE GO AGAIN MORE PROMISES FROM AN OWNER/PROMOTER BUT MOST LIKELY JUST SMOKE AND MIRRORS. I IT IS SO WRONG THAT THE COULDN'T,CAN'T GET THEIR S..T TOGETHER AND GIVE US A HONEST RACE SCHEDULE. RIGHT NOW, JUNE 5tH YOU CAN E-MAIL THE TRACK AND GET NO RESPONSE. AS FAR AS I KNOW NOW, THE SUPER SPRINTS ARE STILL COMING, THE SUPERS AND THE VINTAGE MODIFIEDS. BUT GIVE IT AN HOUR AND THAT COULD ALL CHANGE. IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY MORE PLEASE  REPLY.

Well Derek Lynch said in our drivers meeting last weekend that Cayuga is closed...so I would approach it as such.

Despite the rumors that have been circulating the race at Cayuga Speedway on July 12,2009 IS STILL ON SCHEDULE AS PLANNED. I recently spoke with the new owner and he is very excited about having the ISMA supermodifieds return to Cayuga Speedway. ISMA will be part of an event filled weekend including amusement rides and live musical entertainment. Hope to see many of you there.

Tonight at Delaware the AVSS announcer said that they were still talking to Cayuga and that the date he said was July 11th.Hope this border issue gets solved (re passports) so AVSS can bring a bigger field of cars because tonight only 11 cars showed up and out of the 11 two were Canadian (Ryan Litt,Mike Ling). As for the race the 30 lap feature went caution free with Mike Ling winning it & Ryan Litt finishing 3rd had a watch on the race and they ran 30 laps in under 10 minutes. In time trials Ryan Litt was fastest as he circled the Delaware oval in 15.682 (114.00 MPH).Pretty quick over the 1/2 oval.

at first when I saw "amusement park rides" on a previous post, I sort of thought, what kind of place are they trying to run, but the rides worked well in Holland Speedway's heyday, especially to entertain kids who could be getting antsy while their parents wanted to watch the races. It just too bad that the first big show ISMA will be going up against Kawartha's ACT show if the new owner doesn't modify the schedule in any way.

If ISMA is still going to show they need to tell all of their racers because they all think the deal is dead.  If the Track is under new Managers/Ownership they need to get it out and in the news local, TV, and Inside Track for sure.

Is this deal for real or just more Cayuga rumors ???

you know BAR, this is a little unrelated, but the only recent publicity I can remember here in Burlington for the Santucci era at Cayuga is somehow they wangled it, so the Cayuga pace car was the first vehicle to travel the Red Hill Valley Parkway as soon as it opened to the public. It got on camera on CH news!!!

If ISMA is still planning on running at Cayuga I hope the teams get their passports in advance.
Hoping to have big car count for Delaware Aug 7/8.

Â  Well, well, well. It seems there is finally some movement over at the web site for the Crown Jewel. We now have a definition of SOON according to Cayuga. 6 Months!!!! LOL. I think someone has been working overtime in the PR department also. New slogan "The Sleeping Giant Awakens!" Hope they didn't pay anything for that one :P They say two weekends are confirmed. July 10, 11, 12 is open wheel including ISMA. With less than a month to go I don't think many race fans left that weekend open on their calendar so I hope it is not a flop for them. Also August Nascar Race of Champions but no details. It also seems that they are going to honour 2007 season tickets this year. WUWT?

Â  I know in my case with all the stuff that has gone on there that I can't make either of those dates unless something happens and I was planning on hitting at least three events this year at Cayuga when the hype first started as I was excited at what they SAID they had planned >:( I do sincerly hope they can salvage something there this year but sadly I probably can't be part of it. If they are around next year I'll give them a look again.

Signed: Ever trusting and gullable race fan  :-\
