Motor City Racing Promotions to Host Cabin Fever 100 at Springport Motor Speedway
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour & ICAR Top Speed Mods to highlight anticipated Michigan race Sunday, May 1st

Rochester Hills, Michigan (Monday, March 7, 2016): A traditional door opener in the state of Michigan was facing the possibility of not being conducted for the 2016 racing season when Springport Motor Speedway announced it would not be racing a full schedule for the upcoming year. The Cabin Fever 100, traditionally the season opening event at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval, was in danger of not happening until Motor City Racing Promotions President Scott Menlen stepped in.

Under the helm of Motor City Racing Promotions (MCRP), the 2016 Cabin Fever Weekend will return to the track located north of Jackson and south of Lansing on Saturday, April 30-May 1st. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance kicks off their sixth season of competition as the headliner of the Cabin Fever 100. The premier template body / crate motor series in the country will go 100 laps on Sunday afternoon, May 1st.

"Jeff and Pam Parish, along with their entire team, had done an amazing job building the Cabin Fever event at Springport Motor Speedway over the past few years." offered MCRP's Scott Menlen. "We are thankful for the opportunity facility owner (and Spartan Speedway Promoter), Jim Leasure has provided us with. We look forward to continuing this great event for fans across the region to enjoy.” Menlen added.

2015 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion, Dalton Armstrong went to victory lane one year ago on his way to the championship while current NASCAR K&N Pro Series East star, Justin Haley scored his first career win in a Late Model in the 2014 version of the event. Previous JEGS/CRA winners at Springport include Steve Dorer, a native of nearby Coldwater, Michigan who now resides in Lakeland, Florida, took the lead with 13 laps to go and drove away to the win back on September 19th, 2015. Other previous winners at the track are Grant Quinlan (2014), Chad Finley (2013) and 2012 JEGS/CRA Champion and now NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star with Brad Keselowski Racing, Daniel Hemric.

Also in action on Sunday, May 1st will be the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Northern Division. In two previous appearances in 2015, Jason Parish walked away with both victories back on Cabin Fever Weekend 2015 and then again on June 13th, 2015. The Fort Wayne, Indiana based series visited Springport four times in 2014 as 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion and Rookie of the Year, Derrick Griffin led the way with two wins including the 2014 Cabin Fever victory in May and the 2014 Michigan Cup title in September. Track regulars defended their home turf in the other two races as Walt Obrinske Jr. and Bobby Heyink scored victories for the home team.

Also racing will be the ABC Stock Cars utilizing Spartan Speedway regulations, rules and purse structure while the Compacts/Pony Stocks will also be in action and they will also utilize Spartan Speedway regulations, rules and purse structure.
