I like both types of racing and am invovled in both but like asphalt more. Dirt is fun to watch, as long as the driver you know keeps the sticky side down!

I can't decide!  I like asphalt because it is a lot tighter racing.  I like dirt because it is wild!

Back in 93 I was asked to be the Tech Inspector for Golden Lake Speedway for it's first year of operations, oh and could I also be the Flagman. Why not.

Well up to this point I was a solid Asphalt fan. After that year I kinda liked the dirt a bit, clay actually.

Then I was invited to run one of the top cars in the Mechanics race. WHAT A HOOT!!! That was the most fun I'd had in a long time (I hadn't be a driver for about 5 years).

As for watching it, I like to watch the WoO cars, winged sprints. Do they call them sprints for the way they sprint into the air when they climb someone's wheel? Just kidding, lots of fun, but my heart still lies with asphalt mainly.

Greasemonkey.

I'm an asphalt guy, but, Dirt races are fantastic. Every year we head down to Merritteville for their holiday monday shows. A better run show you'll not see.
Also, every year, at the end of may/start of june, we slide on down to Auburn NY. World of Outlaws and the big block modifieds. Fantastic show. Great time. We're going again this year. Leave Wednesday morning, get down early, get a room at the Holiday Inn, swim it up, go out for lunch, hit the buds, then back to the room for some whisk, then out to the track, more whisk, bbq, then in for qualifying and the race, back to town and out to the bars, great stuff, and i can't wait.

When swimming, try and not drink whiskey for an hour afterwords. Is that right? :)

I'm like the majority of you. My heart too is asphalt but I enjoy dirt as well.

I try to get over to Oshweken Friday nights, to see the SOS's when we're at Cayuga!

We seen a couple of nights of racing at Volusia this past winter, the 410's and the Outlaw Late Models, seen the likes of Danny Lasoski in the 410's and Kenny Shrader in his OLM, what can I say, they were simply awesome! I don't know how these guys had time to think, let alone time to react! Their qualifying and heats can be a long drawn our affair to some I guess, but other than that, just simply awesome!

Joeseph, no, I haven't checked the schedules in a while, but it's my understanding that the race this year is on June the 2nd, wednesday night. Our plan is to take wednesday and thursday of that week off of work.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, we should have gone to the Red Lobster,

Yes, I have checked into it, and "sweet babies" are allowed in Auburn New York. But they do have rules and laws. I'll get a copy of them and send them off to ya. For example, bylaw #82: absolutely no more than 12 "sweet babies" per room, with a minimum of 2 per room. I think that rule was implemented during the great "room famine" of 1903.
Still to this day though, they do not allow any "sweet babies" in Weedsport NY. NO SWEET BABIES IN WEEDSPORT DADDY.

Yeah, I was in the show. I was in the show for 21 days once -- the 21 greatest days of my life. You know, you never handle your luggage in the show, somebody else carries your bags. It was great. You hit white balls for batting practice, the ballparks are like cathedrals, the hotels all have room service, and the women all have long legs and brains.

I'm gonna surprise everyone and say dirt!

Actually as far as on track action, I prefer asphalt.

But for the full experience...fast racing, unpretentious atmosphere, cool cars, and hard core fans...you can't beat the dirt tracks.

IMO of course.

yes I think adding the dirt tracks to this site is a great idea. We went to Osh this weekend to check out the sprints and sportsman cars....Fantastic show.....was able to talk to alot of the guys in the pits....they seem to have a more laid back attitude than some asphalt guys I must admit...I have won features on dirt as well as asphalt and I would have to say the dirt is alot more fun to drive....as a driver you can search out another line to get around a car, on asphalt alot of the time its the bump and run or follow the leader or wait for someone to screw up...as a fan Im not sure which I prefer... I do like not needing goggles to see all the action tho..... Dirts for growin potatoes asphalts for racing OR asphalts for gettin to the track dirts for racing which is it  ????
