No Petey at Daytona
« on: January 29, 2007, 07:44:07 PM »
It was announced today that Carl Edwards will drive the #50 truck at Daytona. An article on Nascar.com stated that Carl and Peter will share the driving duties this year. They are still looking for sponsorship. Also, I was listening to an interview on Sirius with Eric Darnell and he said that the #50 truck was running part time with multiple drivers. So I guess the number of truck races for Pete is up in the air.

I just found this, on another message board RN, it basically confirms what you said, I guess Carl & Petey are sharing the ride in the 50 truck. Well sharing the ride is better than no ride at all, and he can learn tons from Carl. It sounds like they are becoming really good friends!

TJ Bell walked in with a pile of money and a sponsor, and he landed 15 races in the 50 truck, so looks like petey will have to wait another year for a full time truck ride. probably should be in for the other 4 or 5 races that carl or TJ arent running

That sucks.  Could you imagine how Petey feels right now?  Is he going to be racing anything this year besides those 5 races or so?  This is a guy who obviously loved racing every single weekend, to knock that down to 5 races in a year would just suck, and it'll probably dull his skills up.  The shitty thing about racing is that half the time, you don't even have to be a good driver to succeed.  If your dad has got millions to toss around, you're basically in if you want to be.

Yes, this is a setback, but most any driver would give his eye teeth to be hooked up with one of the top teams in racing. He'll still get tons of seat time with R&D cars and trucks, and lets remember how young he is.....there's lots of time to get to the top.

Lets hope so, I wish I had lots of money so I could put it behind him.  There must be some canadian company with money and an interest in racing that would see this as a good investment?
