Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series Rolls Into Peterborough Speedway

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

The heat continues to rise as the 2018 Hot August Nights Racing Series rolls on at Peterborough Speedway. Check out the action – Saturday, August 18th – as the home track Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Super Stock classes are joined by the Hoosier Racing Tire Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models and Ontario Pro Challenge divisions; with Kid’s Barrel Races at intermission at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.

With time trials used to determine the starting line-up for the 75 lap main event and a cheque worth $2500 paid to the winner, the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Tour brings the biggest names to the table. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says this show is one of the most anticipated dates of the speedway’s regular season schedule.

“The Super Late Model division has always been a popular part of our annual calendar and people have been talking about this show since this year’s line-up hit the streets,” J.P. Josiasse said. “We’re very excited to have the tour on the docket for the Saturday night show.”

J.R. Fitzpatrick picked-up the victory over Glenn Watson and Jordan Howse at the most recent tour stop – The Don Biederman Memorial – Saturday, July 28th at Flamboro Speedway. Andrew Gresel took the win, with Brandon and Glenn Watson 2nd and 3rd Saturday, July 7th at Sauble Speedway. Following this weekend’s stop at Peterborough, the tour heads back to Jukasa Saturday, September 1st and Sunset Sunday, September 23rd. The season championship will be decided – back at Peterborough Speedway – during the Autumn Colours Classic.

With a busy night of action on the schedule for Saturday, August 18th, pit gates will open at noon, with spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and the first Great Canadian RV green flag at 5:00.

Looking ahead on the calendar finds the year’s final Summer Toonie Night, presented by Pepsi coming-up Saturday, August 25th. Spectator grandstand admission is just $2.00 for a night of racing that includes the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Super Stock and Late Model divisions, with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series and a Fan Appreciation autograph session at intermission. See www.peterboroughspeedway.com or the track’s Facebook and Twitter social media platforms for full event details.

Peterborough Speedway has offered Central Ontario’s best family motorsports entertainment for over half a century. The annual schedule concludes with the Autumn Colours Classic, Thanksgiving Weekend. This year’s 26th edition features the inaugural Electric City 167, a combined event for Limited and Pro Late Model teams. Full details can be found by selecting the ‘Autumn Colours’ tab from the track web-site.

Glenn Watson (#22) will be looking to pocket a $2500 payday when the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series makes its Central Ontario debut – Saturday, August 18th – at Peterborough Speedway.
