Just one event was on the Excel Tower Service racing schedule this past weekend, and that was a Saturday night race at the nearby Brighton Speedway.  Brighton Speedway is the closest track to their homes in Frankford, Ontario.

Belyea started his qualifying heat from second place, and that is where he finished.  Mutton, started from the pole in his qualifier, but dropped to third at the checkered flag.  In the main event, Belyea started the race from 10th place, and worked his way into the top five before the end of the 25-lap event.  Belyea crosses the finish line in fifth place.  Mutton started from position four, and struggled to a seventh place finish.  Both drivers scored top ten finishes, but were unsatisfied with the end results.

“I really wish we had an opportunity for another adjustment on the car.  The track was really dry and slick tonight, and we struggled.  Both the 98 and our car (25) missed on the set up tonight”, commented Belyea after the race.

This coming weekend, Belyea and Mutton will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York on Friday night for a pair of features.  First up will be the feature from September 3rd, before going into the regular program scheduled.  On Saturday night, both cars will be back at the Brighton Speedway.

Just one more race remains on the schedule for 2010 for the Excel Tower Service team.  On September 25th, Brighton Speedway hosts their final race night of the season on Applefest Weekend.

“We have had a lot of fun racing this season, we have met some great people and have had some good times.  We had a couple of wins earlier this season, and have struggled a bit in recent weeks, but overall we are happy with what we have accomplished in our first year in Late Model racing”, says Belyea.  We are looking forward to the rest of the events in 2010, and hope to be even better when we come back for 2011”.

In 25 Late Model events so far in 2010, Belyea has posted a pair of wins, including the season opener at the Fulton Speedway back in April.  Belyea has also collected 15 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes.  Mutton didn’t start the season until early July, and struggled early, but he still has amassed six top ten finishes.   His season best was just this past weekend with a seventh place run at Brighton Speedway.
