With about a 95% chance of that being my home track in '11 the news is ver good that there will be a season and that it will still be that awsome new pavement.

That is good news.

With his experience in property management and racing Todd should do well with the track.

Meeting was good.  Todd has lots of ideas and is focusing on making the track more family friendly and more professionalism to the track for the fans and drivers.

Tim Dorning is the new race Director.  Ed Crilly remains as tech director.

Unsure what that means for the Late Model Tim was driving.  It was not his, not sure if Al will have another driver, sell it or park it.

Next up:Driver's meetings for rules.  He mentioned briefly he does not expect many rule changes to any classes except possibly Mini-Stock.  We'll have to wait and see.

Glad to read it went well. Capital City needs good promotion - something more than one article per year in the Sun and nothing in the Citizen unless someone gets hurt.

Did anyone mention the anniversary? The first races at Capital City were run in 1961. How many Canadian speedways have made it to the big 50? That would be worth promoting.

Funny you mention that.  Todd's goal is to use the 50th anniversary to his advantage and promote it as such.  Everyone in the stands will know it's CCS's 50th.

Also he has plans to have regular updates in the sun on thurs/fri advising of results and he wants to have driver profiles each week as well if the papers will do so.  He also plans on hitting the local papers(EMC, etc).

I hope they can come up with something to commemorate the anniversary. The Motorsport Club of Ottawa did a really good book for its 50th, though it came out a few years late. Personally, I'd be happy if they put together a full list of track champions. Even better if they could invite some of the old champs to come back for a round of applause like they did for the 25th anniversary in 1976.

Results in the newspaper would be great. I don't think we've had that here since the mid-1980s. The days of the local media sending reporters out are gone. If you want your info in the papers or on the 11 o'clock news, you have to do the job for them by sending in the results before their deadline. Driver profiles would be great. That's what NASCAR always did: promote the drivers. If CCS is going to survive, it has to get new people interested and bring new fans to the track. Last year there were a couple of pre-season newspaper articles (the Sun, EMC). They focused on the new (now gone) promoter. Promoting the promoter doesn't bring people in the gate.

I hope it goes well this year. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Can they even find something special for the two big Saturday events? Are there any touring series that aren't all booked?

I'll do my best to try and get some more thundercar guys to come up for the 50 lapper. I made a deal with Marv Freiberger today, if I make the 7+ hour tow and show up at Sauble to race one night this season he'll return the favor and come for that race.
