3rd Straight Weekend of Grassroots Racing Series Action Takes the Stage Sunday Afternoon

Grassroots Racing Series Media

It could be the rainfall during the week, but spectator and participant support for the Grassroots Racing Series at Kawartha Speedway continues to grow.

After treating fans to what some called "the best Thunder Car feature they'd ever seen" and having a Mini Stock 'A' main where the same 4 car pack battled together, swapping positions lap after lap during the Sunday, June 15th Father's Day Shootout, action returns to the popular 3/8th mile speedplant at Fraserville, Ontario Sunday, June 22nd with a 30 lap Mini Stock invitational headlining an afternoon of racing that also includes battles for the Late Model, Thunder Car and 4Fun divisions.

In its first 2 events, the Grassroots Racing Series has seen some very interesting headlines, including upset qualifying heat race wins by Tiffany Vandebelt in the 4Fun division and a dominating opening round Thunder Car victory by Oshawa, Ontario's John Baker Jr.  The 8 race schedule puts the emphasis on building a solid fan base of support, created by the good, clean action fans see on the racetrack.  Series originator and promoter Andrew McFadden says it has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get the program off the ground.

"We have an excellent group of people who've bought-in to what we're doing," said McFadden.  "Whether it's the support we've been getting from the staff, the racers or the fans, I'm happy to see such a strong level of commitment from everyone who has taken the time to walk through the gates or turn a lap on the racetrack.  It makes the entire process run smoothly."

For Sunday, June 22nd gates will open at 10:00, with rotating practice sessions for Late Model, Thunder Car, Mini Stock and 4Fun race teams beginning at 11:00.  The Ontario Legends will not be part of this weekend's event.  The first qualifying heat will take to the track just after 1:00.  Full details can always be found by visiting www.kawarthaspeedway.com and clicking the 'Grassroots Racing' tab.

The Grassroots Racing Series team is pleased to announce that marketing support for this year's inaugural 8 race schedule will be provided by Cavalier Transportation, Northern Force HVAC Service, Associated Muffler & Brake - The Undercar Specialists, Molson-Coors Brewing Company, J.J. Stewart Chrysler, Sound Off Signal, Fenelon Falls Yamaha Marina and Carquest Auto Parts, Belleville.
