Pro Stocks, Street Stocks Highlight Second Weekend of Atlantic Championships at the CENTRE For Speed

(MONCTON, NB - October 5th, 2017) - The second weekend of the Atlantic Stock Car Championships at the CENTRE For Speed goes green on Saturday and Sunday with two action packed days of racing.

Five divisions will crown their Atlantic Champion for the 2017 season, while the Bandolero division will run an exhibition race on Saturday afternoon after an exciting Atlantic Championships battle one week ago.

Saturday afternoon's action includes the Mini Cup division making their first and only off-Island appearance in 2017 for a 25-lap feature. The Four Fun division will bring the Four Cylinder heat to the track for a 50-lap feature and the Limited Late Models will close the card with a 125-lap main feature. Two of last weekend's Sportsman podium finishers, Laurie Cormier and Brady Creamer, will lead the field into action on Saturday in the Late Model portion of the show.

The Pro Stock 250 field will feature former Atlantic Champions including Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell, PE and Dylan Gosbee of Cornwall, PE, along with Speedway 660 champion Brent Roy of Hanwell, NB and runner-up in the 2017 McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 in Lyttleton, NB teen sensation Ashton Tucker.

Kevin Moore (Fredericton, NB), Robbie MacEwen (Sherwood, PE), Shawn Pierce (Bridgewater, NS) and Brandon Skidmore (Springhill, NS) will look to take home an Atlantic Championship on Sunday afternoon. Pro Stock freshmen Craig Ward (Riverview, NB), Cal Hatfield (Saint John, NB), Andrew McKay (Quispamsis, NB) and Brandon Harris (Fredericton Junction, NB) look to strike gold in their first Pro Stock Atlantic Championships run, while Chris Hughes (Brackley Beach, PE) returns for a run at the checkered flag at the CENTRE For Speed.

A total of 18 drivers are pre-registered for the Street Stock 100, led by Speedway 660 champion Luc McLaughlin (Geary, NB) and Scotia Speedworld champion Dan Smith (Lower Sackville, NS). James Matchett (Miramichi, NB) is coming off the momentum of a big win at Petty International Raceway in September and will look for a second straight big win. Prince Edward Island is well represented in the field with Oyster Bed Bridge drivers Brandon Snow and Alex Sheehan looking to continue their winning ways off-Island.

Jamie Vassallo and Brennan MacInnis are coming from Cape Breton Island in hopes of taking the win back across the Canso Causeway. In 2016, Mike MacLeod was the winner of the Atlantic Championships for Street Stocks, but the team has since sold the car. The car will return to the CENTRE For Speed this weekend with three-time Mini Stock Atlantic Champion JR Lawson making his Street Stock debut on Sunday.

Complete entry lists for each of the five divisions competing in their Atlantic Championships events are below. The lists are subject to change without notice and are expected to grow as the week goes on.

"Epic" will provide live music on Saturday night following the day's racing and Happy Hour practice sessions for Pro Stocks and Street Stocks.

Monday, October 9th is set aside as a rain date for either racing event on the weekend, if needed.
