Flamboro Speedway – September 1, 2018 Recap

With every single point mattering as the season winds down, the action was fast and furious on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway.


Canadian Vintage Modifieds

With rain cancelling their second feature on August 11, the Canadian Vintage Modifieds would run three features on Saturday night at Flamboro.

TJ Marshall scored the win in the first feature ahead of Steve Trendell, Daryl Henwood, Max Wright and Mike Podd. Unfortunately, issues would see Jeremy Barton, Brian Atkinson, and Amanda Stoner finish. Further issues resulted in Brian Watson and Bob Gilbert not starting the event.

TJ Marshall went back-to-back, winning the second feature ahead of Trendell, Henwood, John Karley, Gilbert, Bill Stoner and Amanda Stoner. Issues would keep Watson, Barton, Ian McIntyre, Max Wright, and Atkinson now finish.

Steve Trendell ended the win streak for Marshall with a win in the third feature, but Marshall wasn’t far behind with a runner-up finish. Henwood finished third, followed by Karley, McIntyre, Barton, and Bill Stoner. Bob Gilbert and Amanda Stoner failed to finish, while Watson, Wright, and Atkinson did not take the green flag. 

Ray’s Auto Center & Towing Super Stocks

Current points leader Bobby Mercer won the first 20-lap feature ahead of Brad Collison, Steve Ecker, Steve Perry, Rick Ecker, and AJ Miller.

Brad Collison would win the second event for his third win in the past four weeks ahead of Bobby Mercer, Steve Ecker, Steve Perry, Rick Ecker, and AJ Miller.

Klotz Auto Repair and Engine Shop Mini Stocks

Both features would be filled with drama, but see a pair of familiar winners.

Kyle Istead used his a good starting spot to take the lead early, not looking back en route to winning the first feature. Wayde Thorne finished second, followed by Shawn Taylor, Jake Gilbert, Erik Della Riva, Rich Schwartzenburg, Karl Sault, Kaitlyn Wallace, Jonathan Ayrton, and Dave Gallinger. Matt Young finished 11th, followed by Mike Gilmour, Mike Hooper, Kyle DaSilva, Tyler Lewis, Wendy Adams, and Jason LeBlanc. Mark Klotz would fail to finish the event.

Wayde Thorne made his way through the field to win the second feature ahead of Sault, Ayrton, Gilbert, Taylor, Della Riva, Young, Schwartzenburg, Hooper, and Gilmour. Wendy Adams finished 11th, followed by Kyle DaSilva, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Dave Gallinger. The contact throughout would take several drivers out of the race including Tyler Lewis, Kyle Istead and Jason LeBlanc. Mark Klotz failed to take the green flag.

McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks

Current points leader Dale Lucas won the first feature ahead of Mark Thorne, Jared Bocnar, Ryan Hillar, Travis Hofstetter, RJ Croteau, Bill Rutherford, and Courtney Scott.

Lucas’ title rival Courtney Scott won the second feature ahead of Travis Hofstetter, Ryan Hillar, Dale Lucas, Jared Bodnar, Mark Thorne, Bill Rutherford, and Michael Kenny.

Pro 4 Modifieds

Mark Lucas won the first feature to give him two wins in the past three features ahead of Rodney Rutherford, Dan Pettit, Brian Nanticoke, Cliff Hodgkinson, Dave Hodgkinson, and Shannon Morris.

Dan Pettit won the second feature ahead of Mark Lucas, Rodney Rutherford, Cliff Hodgkinson, Brian Nanticoke, Dave Hodgkinson, and Shannon Morris.

The action at Flamboro Speedway isn’t set to slow down as this Saturday, September 8 is Memorial Night where we remember all of our drivers and friends that have left us. The action on-track will feature Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, and the Ontario Pro Challenge Series.

Saturday is also Flamboro Speedway’s annual vintage car show, so be sure to check out all the classic cars on display.
