CAISTOR CENTRE, Ont. – May 15, 2018 – Following a long and cold off-season, Cory Turner is finally ready to hit the dirt and kickoff his 2018 season of 360 Sprint Car racing later this week with Ohsweken Speedway’s Test and Tune night on Wednesday, May 16th. It will be Turner’s first chance to buckle in, fire the engine and hit the throttle on his KT Tobacco/Silo Wireless No.97 Hill’s Racing ride since the calendar flipped to the New Year.

Entering the new season, Turner is excited to start the campaign alongside all of his returning marketing partners, including KT Tobacco, Braemar Building Systems, Silo Wireless, Gale’s Auto Aftermarket, Skyway Lawn Equipment, Pyett Spring & Alignment, DSE Performance, Six Nations Bingo, Malabar Super Spice, V&R Recycling, Plazek Auto Recyclers, CJ Mulholland Mattress Factory, Rondex, Silverdale Gun Club, Barlow Farms, Mike Morris Holdings, Bryan’s Farm Supply, Total Coatings, Hitchman Trailers, V&R Hose & Hydraulics, RCM Racing Equipment, Wix Filters, Creative Edge Signs & Graphics, Northern Performance, Charlie Bee Honey, and ImageFactor.ca.

“I’d like to thank everybody for their support again this year,” Turner said. “KT Tobacco is our primary sponsor again this year, and we’re excited to welcome everybody back.”

Turner is also happy to welcome two new marketing partners for the upcoming season, adding to an extensive and loyal list for the upcoming campaign.

“We’d like to welcome Mobil 1 and Kings Wood Products of Paris for coming on board this year,” Turner said. “All of our marketing partners are the people that make it all possible.”

Turner will represent his marketing partners on the track during weekly Friday Night Excitement racing at Ohsweken Speedway, located on the Six Nations Reserve south of Brantford, Ont. After a successful 2017 season where Turner finished a career-best fourth in the championship standings, he hopes to take another leap forward in 2018.

“We’d like to win the Ohsweken championship, that’s our main goal,” Turner stated. “We had the consistency to do it last year, but we finished outside of the top-five too many times. You can’t have more than one or two nights outside of the top-five.”

Turner’s schedule is largely the same as last season. His Hill’s Racing No.97 team plans to run between 30 and 35 race nights this season, with the majority at Ohsweken on Friday nights. The team also plans to race with the Southern Ontario Sprints, Patriot Sprint Tour, Empire Super Sprints as well as the NRA Sprint Invaders in Ohio.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to some of the places I’ve run well at in that past and we’re looking at doing a couple of trips,” Turner said. “We’re looking at going to Knoxville (Iowa) for the 360 Nationals. Outlaw Speedway has a big 360 show in July and we’ll try to have a bit more success in Central New York when we get down there.”

Turner is returning to action this year with a very similar program to last season and will compete once again with a Hill’s Racing-prepared Cool Chassis under him.

“The car that we had last year is our backup now and the car that Sam Hefertepe ran last year at the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals in my primary car,” Turner explained. “I haven’t driven it yet, so I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel on Wednesday.”

In addition to his busy race schedule, Turner also plans to participate in several charity and community events that will take him across southwestern Ontario and the Niagara region throughout the summer.

“We’ll be doing a lot of charity events – we have a few booked already – as well as customer appreciation events for our marketing partners,” Turner said. “It’s how we give back. We’ll have more information on those events as the season rolls along.”

Fans and partners of Cory Turner can catch the No.97 Sprint Car on track for the first time this Wednesday, May 16 during Ohsweken Speedway’s Test and Tune night at 6:00pm via Ohsweken Speedway free live online broadcast on Facebook. Turner will also be in action for Ohsweken’s 23rd season opener on Friday, May 18 with race time scheduled for 7:30pm.
