'I figured a good place to start was they day they decided they had better build a wall on the front strait .

 Stompin Tom in 1975

Sunsets first CASCAR race 1981 first weekend before they were rained off .

 Freddy Bullen in 1977

You cant talk about Sunset with out mentioning Terrible Tommy Milligan . This car sat out behind a barn at his long time partners Rippingtons place for 30 yrs until Tom took the body off it and put it on his daughters Thunder car that she races at Sunset .

Well to be honest SLEEPY, I do have lots of albums, but think my Dad had more of the racing related ones and now hes down east. He will be helping out at Scotia Speedworld in some capacity, and for the record I am envious of that as they have some great true Late Model races down that way!! I'm kickin my butt that I think most of my old programs were thrown out around the mid to late 80's but do have a few really old photos in the albums I retained just no scanner!!! But one of me and John Eacott that I would like to enlarge just unsure how to do it!!! Does anyone remember a photo guy that worked at Barrie in the mid 70's named Brian Campbell??? Anyways, he put together a string of 7-8 photo albums of Barrie action and cars that my dad still has, will work on getting him to bring to Barrie this year as I think he will be coming to check out a week or two of action and maybe I can get Rod to scan them for us all to add to one of these topics!!!!

That pic with Ray McGill  # 42 LM sure brings back memories for me as Ray is my hubby and passed away January 15 2008, he really luved the racing and just sold his race car 4 yrs. ago but we still attended race tracks all over and followed Nascar every week. "Thanks for the Memory".

Lloyd Howard may not have been one of the quickist cars at Sunset but he was there from the time the place opened its gates the first year until the late 70s . Lloyd never had much money but built his own cars and his own engines and it was not unusual to see Lloyd by himself at the track doing all his own crew work .

This is an earlier car of Lloyds he built in 1969 and this shot is from Pinecrest but he ran this car for several years at Sunset .

 1977 action at Sunset

For who ever put these pictures in, a "BIG THANK-YOU."  Brings back a lot of memories !  The picture with the car with Traceys name on the back of it was when that car went up the bank and sharply turned going thru the fence and hitting a couple of young gentlemen breaking a couple of limbs. Remember that one very well. The the night that a car came off corner four up the bank and tasking out the starters stand. Ralph Vokey was the starter and jumped out of the stand, just as the car took the whole thing out. Ralph landed on the paved track, with only a few scratches. Daves mother was one of the first ones to get on the track.

I think beside McGill is #79 Dave Isen who raced outts London at the time if my memory is correct!! I was wondering that when the flood pic in the pits was displayed cause hes pitted beside Jack Cook in that one and you get a clearer look at the car!!! But I think Isen raced #79 at that time!!! But if I am wrong someone please correct me!!!
