You dont think, beiing a cup driver makes a difference!!!!! seriously?  those cup drivers are in top notch equipment and get to test and practice every week.   i didnt say they should not be there, i understand why the promoters want them there,  but it is great when the little guys do well against them.   I remember a guy named derk cope i cheered for because i knew him, look what happened there!!  oh ya  hes from south of the 49th (Spanaway, washington).   anyway    dj  on the lead lap  and in the top 15!!!  go buddy go!

I did not say being a Cup driver doesn't make a difference , i said everyone knew what they were getting going in . If you want to stay away from Cup drivers go Truck racing or to ARCA .

Speaking of Trucks they have a pretty good demolishion derby going on to night .

well i hate to say this because i dont want it to happen. But it needs to be said!

If DJ gets caught up in a wreck that is not his fault sleepy 11 will say he was right! We dont need that kind of stuff here! gloating at someone's wrecks. Just like the arca race last week with Ryan Fisher who was caught in a wreck that was absolutly no fault of his own. But the guy who predicted it gloated that he was right by saying Fisher would end up on a wrecker! He said I AM RIGHT! because what i said would happen did! BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN THE WAY YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD! Just because it did  you say you were right but you are so very wrong! People have to stop posting their negative thoughts and start posting positive things!!!!!!!!

PS. I am totaly cheering for DJ and would go nuts if he wins!!!!!! BECAUSE I AM CANADIAN!!!!!!!

DJ will do find, just sit and ride for the seat time then near the end start pushing it.  Guess according to sleepy's theory we should not be cheering for teams like Joe Nemecheck, Kenny Wallace or John Andretti, cause they don't deserve to be the 500 either.  Come on give the smaller teams some credit for once!!!!

Not sure if its been mention on here...
But they had a preview show on Speed talking about the "bushwackers" being in the series and D.J was interviewed a number of times. Talking about whether they should limit the # of them, whether they should stop letting them in and talk / rumour that they may all have to have C.O.T. cars by 2010 and how they would be so far behind since the Cup guys run them now.

the cot for nationwide is to come online in 09. it is not to be a copy of the cup car. the hope is that the difference will allow non cup drivers a fighting chance, but $$$ and talent will always tell put a cup driver in a go kart he will do well, most are at that level for a reason. good to see all the post wishing dj luck. he is there doing well we sit here and watch that if for no other reason deserves some respect imnsho.

Well, I for one am elated! I sat in the grandstands wondering if DJ was even going to qualify??? They didn't bring the car out of the pits until the last minute, so they had me wondering??? His first lap wasn't that fast and the track announcer mentioned that he'd really have to pick up his 2'nd lap and that he did, even surprising the announcer!

I've got the entire qualifying session on video, I'll try and post it on youtube when I get home.

Congratulations DJ, awesome job!

I'm going out on a limb here and predicting they'll be in the top 15 at the checkers, perhaps even top 10. ;)

It's funny how quick to conclusion you are to assume there sleepy, yes he is currently 2 laps down on lap 55 but then again there are 65 laps to go and we just saw our first accident.  So there's a couple more spots he won't have to worry about losing.

We should all just be happy that he is there trying!  I know he is happy to be there. I know I am happy he is there. And several other people are.  So what if he fell from 16th-40th in 15 laps.  He is there and he made the race! Go DJ GO!

He was just a few laps from going 3 laps down before Greens wreck at half way . I am sure several of the competitive cars will have problems and he will pick up a few positions if he can just stay running slowly.

As far as jumping to conclusions i predicted exactly this outcome long ago .
