Track approval
« on: December 31, 2006, 09:28:50 AM »
As I understand, the municipal council has given approval for the building of a new track in La Salle, Ontario. This has no connection to a planned track of a few years ago in Comber (east of Windsor) That municipality never did give approval.

Does anyone have further information? ie:exact location, time line for construction, parties involved

Just Wondering

This is just a thought, but the windsor horse track is moving and when they announced that I thought right away that if someone wanted to but a racetrack their it might work. They have the room, the track in Comber was ruined by the goverment wanting the guy who was building it to pay for the off ramp to 401, he said no bought a dragstrip in Michigan, and the goverment built the ramps any way, as usual we lose.

This is the first i've heard of anything, and I must admit, the thought crossed my mind when they announced the horse track moving to lakeshore.  I didn't think it would float though because of the 'resedential' areas, coupled with some NIMBY attitudes typical for this area.

Major plus if it happens but.......

Upon further review, the Horse track is technically in Windsor, so fat chance on them deciding to allow something like this.  The other thing is Lasalle council had thier last meeting on the 12th, would be hard pressed to believe something like this waited till now to turn up.

Is there an article on this anywhere ? I haven't heard of any new tracks being built recently. There was talk a while ago about a new Windsor area track but I believe the local government killed the idea. Has this proposal been renewed or is this a brand new deal?

:D The rumour I hear is that the track might be built along with the new hockey arena! On the same grounds.
Although,it's just a rumour,it's nice to know that people are still trying to get a track going in Windsor. The two hour ride to Delaware every Friday plus the price of gas, really takes a toll on the racing budget for a street stock team!
Lets hope this time it goes in our favor!

More internet hearsay. It'd be nice...but don't hold your breath.

Anyone heard what the status is of Ridgetown? Website's not working anymore.

I had a feeling that would happen. It sounded like a one-man-show...and there's a lot of work to be done if they want to reopen that place.

Too bad though.
