A NIGHT OF TOUGH BOUNCES FOR CBRT

September 8, 2018. Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) drivers Brett Taylor, Larry Jackson and team General Manager Joey McColm hit the track for round number 11 of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Saturday at the Autodrome St. Eustache near Montreal Quebec.  Jackson was on his way to a top-ten result before a bad break hurt his chances.  Taylor and McColm also suffered through some adversity.

During the afternoon practice session Jackson ripped off the fourth fastest time in his #1 CBRT Dodge.  McColm in the #25 car and Taylor in the #46 CBRT/TCB Trailers Dodge each made steady progress.  Joey McColm would be the highest qualifying CBRT car and start the 250-lap race on the outside of row six.

Each of the three CBRT runners had positive starts to the race moving forward in the opening laps and following the first of two scheduled breaks in the action mandated by NASCAR for teams to fuel and change tires if they so chose, Jackson had moved his CBRT machine up to challenge for the top ten. Unfortunately this was also when Taylor spun on track bringing out a caution period and erasing his forward progress for the time being.

Through the middle stages of the race once Taylor began to move the #46 CBRT/TCB Trailers Dodge forward in the field, McColm continued to push hard and Jackson climbed as high as seventh in the running order.  “That #1 car looked good, especially in the middle stages,” said CBRT General Manager Joey McColm.  “Larry came in and got fresh tires early and really gained a lot of ground.”

Things however would become more challenging in the final segment of the race.  Competitors became more heated and aggressive in the final stages fighting for every inch. Each of the three CBRT machines were bumped and bruised after incurring contact by the end of the race and their final results weren’t reflective of how well they’d run.

“Larry looked great in the afternoon but didn’t post a very fast qualifying run.  But he backed up his practice time with another stellar effort in the race” said McColm.  “He just missed finishing top ten after starting at the back.  My tire strategy didn’t work out as hoped and it hurt us”.

“I know he didn’t have the result he wanted, but I admire Brett (Taylor) for how hard he worked all day.  This track will humble you, it’s so hard to figure out, super bumpy and even though he got spun and had contact, he kept pushing all night, that kind of effort was great to see,” added McColm.

CBRT drivers are next headed to New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire for the first ever Pinty’s Series event outside of Canada on Saturday September 15th.   For the latest info & team updates follow @CBRTeams on Instagram and Facebook.
