MIXED RESULTS FOR AVION MOTORSPORTS

May 22, 2017.  The hard working group at Avion Motorsports accomplished a feat they were very proud of this past weekend at round number one of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).  For the first time in team history they prepared and entered three teams for competition.

For Avion principal Trevor Seibert and Team Manager Al Lebert while that is a proud accomplishment, they realize it is just the first step to a season of growth that lies ahead.

In addition to fielding three teams the Avion Motorsports group also had to deal with extremely challenging and changing weather conditions during Sunday’s race.  What began as a wet race first had a drying racetrack, which called for changes in strategy.  When heavy rain returned that meant more on the fly adjustments.

One of the reasons for optimism is the performance of Charles Harvey from Terrebonne, Quebec.  With only one previous start in the Pinty’s series Harvey not only survived the difficult conditions and stiff competition but he managed to climb ten positions during the race to score a finish of 15th in the #09 Havoline Dodge.

Also looking strong in the early going was racing veteran Robin Buck from Milton, Ontario.  Buck smartly moved his Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge forward and climbed from 17th into the top five but a mechanical failure would put him down several laps.

Driver Carl Gautier of Petawawa, Ontario piloting the #69 Security Experts/Esse Canada Chevrolet pulled off course early to avoid an on track incident in the very difficult conditions.

“We had just about everything thrown at us this weekend,” said Al Lebert.  “There were a few curveballs with things that didn’t go quite as well as we hoped but we also took some good strides forward.  I’m pretty excited to get back to the shop and use some of what we learned today to be better.

The Avion Motorsports team will be back in action next on Saturday June 3rd at Delaware Speedway near London, Ontario.
