Daryl Henwood Scores Canada Day Win at Sauble With Vintage Modifieds

HEPWORTH, Ont. (July 1, 2016) – Daryl Henwood parlayed his front row starting position in to his first win of the season on Canada at Sauble Speedway with the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds.

Henwood started outside of polesitter John Karley for the 25-lap main event, but claimed the point position from the drop of the green flag after Karley’s No.19 got loose in turn four.

After taking the lead, Henwood had to contend not only with Karley but Brian Atkinson, current point leader Jason Keen and Steve Trendell who were glued to the back bumper of his No.29.

A pair of restarts in the latter half of the restart gave Henwood is best challenge, but he was unfazed and held off all challengers. The action wasn’t so calm between the rest of he drivers mixing it up for fifth on back.

Keen used one of those restart to slide under Atkinson for the runner-up position while TJ Marshall took the fourth spot from Trendell. The top three ran single-file and unchanged, but Trendell continued to challenge Marshall and reclaimed the fourth position from the two-time season winner.

Darren Dryden, who was making his second start of the season, passed Marshall in the closing laps to claim the final spot inside the top-five.

Henwood’s first win of the season marked the fifth different winner in seven features so far this season for the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds.
