Super Late Model Showcase
After several weeks of wall to wall racing, everyone around Wyant Group
Raceway was looking forward to an easy day, a local race meet without
all the extra cars and laps. The heat always makes the day seem so much
longer, so cutting six hours off your day is always welcomed.
Race fans also got something they haven’t seen yet this season, a local
WSSL Super Late Model race. Although the super late models have been on
the track three times already this year, those were all Western Speed
Association series races.
It was also a chance to have a little fun and do some extra racing.
Bandoleros were rewarded with a second feature, giving them a chance to
put in extra laps. Clean racing meant all three divisions were also
able to run 40 feature laps.
With four races now on the card, the CrimeStoppers Law Enforcement
Guardian Bandoleros produced four winners Saturday night. Caiden Willy
claimed the first heat race in his #11 Flin Flon Denture Clinic Ford
Fusion. Dakota Wollf and her #21 Coyote Drywall Bandolero picked up the
Qualifier win.
The first CrimeStoppers Law Enforcement Guardian Bandolero Feature was
taken by the #10 C&F Installations Toyota Camry of Lachlyn Anderson.
Second was #11 Caiden Willey and third was #25 Hayden Hoogeveen.
The second 20 lap Bandolero feature was won by the #14 Country Style BBQ
Bando of Ty Stewart. #18 Aston Everitt was second and #21 Dakota Wollf
was third.
In the Golf’s Car Wash Street Stock Division, Greg Vangool piloted the
#22 Globe Excavating Camaro to the first Heat win, with the #1
Tailgatorz Sports Bar Camaro of Scott Barrand claiming the Qualifier
race win.
Curtis Houben, driving the #81 RPM Camaro took home the Golf’s Car Wash
Street Stock Feature flag, with the #88 of Brad Wrennick second and #63
Kevin McLaggan third.
Doug Bienia took the first win of the year in the WSSL Super Late Model
Division, claiming the heat race in his #22 Custom Foundations Toyota.
Howie Crossman took the night off and put Andrew Hardy in the driver’s
seat of the #56 TG Graphics SM Inc Impala SS to claim the Super Late
Model Qualifier race.
The final race of the night, the 40 lap WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Model
feature was won by an ecstatic Kenny Heintz bringing his #62 CJC & Co.
Law Office Monte Carlo in for the win. The #56 of Andrew Hardy was
second and Matthew Shirley rounded out the top three with the #12 Co-op
Chevy SS.
We’re back on the track next Saturday with the first Legends Western Cup
race of the year. Legends cars from Saskatchewan and Alberta will be
here, along with the Golf’s Car Wash Mini Stocks, the Golf’s Car Wash
Street Stocks and the CrimeStoppers Cervus Equipment Bandoleros. Racing
is Saturday, July 22. Front gates open at 5:00, with the first green
flag at 6:05pm.
Also, don’t forget time is running out to get your tickets for two
action packed nights of racing July 25th and 26th. Besides great racing
by the Pro Trucks, Sportsman and Super Late Models, the action will be
capped off with the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Velocity Prairie Thunder, this
year running twin 100 lap races.
