Brockville Speedway Fan Fest is the Unofficial Start of the 2018 Season

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

Just about a month and a half from now, a new season of exciting DIRTcar action will take the spotlight as the 2018 schedule at Brockville Ontario Speedway roars to life. With the season opener scheduled for Saturday, May 12th – featuring the opening round of the Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Triple Crown – with a 50-lap main event for the 358 Mods, 40 laps for the Sportsman Modifieds; plus Rookie Sportsman, Mini Stock and Street Stock action to kick-off a fresh schedule. Before the first laps of the year are turned on the track, the promotional team at The BOS is pleased to announce the return of Fan Fest.

Saturday, April 21st – from 10:00 ‘til 2:00 – teams from the tracks weekly classes will get together for a Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario fundraiser at Parkdale Avenue Walmart location in Brockville. There will be live entertainment and fans will have a chance to pick-up a copy of the 2018 schedule, talk to their favourite drivers, collect autographs and get a close-up look at the new racing equipment before it turns a lap on the track.

“Meeting the drivers and seeing the race cars is something that our fans of all ages enjoy,” Paul Kirkland said. “It’s a great opportunity to see what’s new and who is running where. This is about the 5th year we’ve put together this pre-season expo and its grown in popularity every time. We’re happy to have our teams come out and support such a wonderful event and help raise some much-needed financial support for CHEO.”

The DIRTcar Racing community is buzzing about the inaugural running of The Bullringer 110, presented by RTD Trailers. Possibly the biggest mid-week event in the history of Brockville Ontario Speedway, the Wednesday, August 8th spectacular has a 110 lap 358 Modified Series event with a $10,000 payday and a 110 lap Sportsman-Modified ‘A’ main, paying $2,000 to the winner. Paul Kirkland says track officials are expecting the best of the best from both sides of the border.

“Big money events always draw the sport’s biggest names, including drivers who race for a living,” Kirkland said. “We haven’t had a mid-season show of this stature in several years, so we’re very excited to see how things play out. The winner’s share of each main event should see the cream rise to the top.”

Saturday night short track racing notebook: In between the Saturday, April 21st Fan Fest and the Saturday, May 12th season opener, Brockville Ontario Speedway will host an open practice session – from 1:00 ‘til 4:00 – Saturday, May 5th. Fans are invited to watch the test and tune outing, with free spectator grandstand admission.

The full 2018 event schedule can be found by visiting www.brockvillespeedway.com or by checking the track’s social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
