Amor, Boal go two-for-two in Top 3 finishes at Plymouth Speedway

PLYMOUTH, Ind. – Friday, May 18, 2012 — No stranger to victory lane,
Steve Stacy dominated the Outlaw Late Model division at Plymouth
Speedway Friday night, taking his second win of the season in the
series. “I didn’t qualify well,” Stacy said, “but the car was on a
rail tonight, we couldn’t have made it any better. Seeing all these
fans out here for this autograph session really pumped me up.” It was
DARE/autograph night at the track, dubbed the “Playground for Power”
and all drivers in each of the track’s four divisions spent
intermission meeting and greeting their fans. Following Stacy in
second was “Radical” Rich Boal and Shawn Amor came in third.

In the Late Model series, Nick Pressler pulled ahead around lap 5 and
never looked back. Pressler dominated in the win, challenged a few
times by Shawn Amor and Rich Boal, who was third. Amor finished
second, less than .3 seconds behind Pressler, who said, “Between last
year and this year, I’ve won more races than in the last 10 years. I’d
like to thank Mike Shewchuk, he’s the best friend you could ever have
in this sport.”

D.J. Frost took the checkers in the Street Stock series, in a close
battle between four drivers. Frost was locked in with Jeff Stetler,
David Long and PeeWee Warren as the four pulled away from the pack.
Long gave Frost a good run, finishing just under .2 seconds behind him
at the line. Warren and Stetler continued to battle for the third
spot, with Warren pulling ahead to take it – less than a second off
the pace from the leader. This was Frost’s first win of the season,
and he showed his appreciation for those in the crowd. “I’d like to
thank all the fans that are here, we couldn’t do this without you,” he
said.

An interesting twist to the night saw the Hornets turning right
instead of left, and on the Bull Ring instead of the asphalt. The idea
was short-lived, however, because the track was too dusty for the
unscheduled change of racing plans. Sal Bustamante took the checkers
once the Hornets were back on the asphalt, and Daren Miller finished
second.

Saturday night, May 19, is a night of action-packed racing at the
Plymouth Speedway with the Gertrude-sponsored Crash-O-Rama. Planned
for the night, beginning at 8 p.m., are school bus races, trailer
races, mattress races, cops and robbers event, road rage event,
spectator races and Hornets. Gates open at 6 p.m. Pit passes are $30
and there will be $5 rids in “The General” monster truck from 6 to
7:45 p.m.

Next weekend brings back the annual Jim Blount Memorial with Outlaw
Late Models, Street Stocks and Hornets, starting at 8 p.m. Friday
night, May 25. Gates open at 5 p.m. and opening ceremonies begin at 8
p.m. An added special event for the night will be the dropping of
$1,600 into the crowd in dollar bills. Don’t miss it – the Plymouth
Speedway is the place to be next Friday night!
