MECHANICAL MISFORTUNE FOR BUCK AT CTMP

September 5, 2017.  Robin Buck was expecting to take positive steps forward in the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge for round 11 of the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) this past Sunday.  In their last outing the team made significant performance gains and Buck was hopeful for further improvements.  Regrettably that didn’t transpire.

Difficulties began right from the first practice session on Saturday afternoon for the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge team when mechanical gremlins limited their practice time.  Further troubles arose during qualifying when a major malfunction occurred with the drive shaft.

“The drive shaft broke and caused significant damage,” said Buck.  “It was a huge effort by the team to replace the engine, transmission and drive shaft and they did it,” he added.

The #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge team worked late into the night completing repairs so Buck would be able to start the 51-lap race on Sunday.  Morning rain showers also meant a wet track for the start of the race.

Not being able to run qualifying Buck started at the back of the field but was able to quickly move the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge forward.  “I picked up a few spots quickly and kept moving forward,” said Buck.

Unfortunately there was a nasty vibration was also causing Buck difficulty trying to manage from inside the car.  “It was so bad the shifter knob came loose,” said the driver.

Buck soldiered on in the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge as best he could until the vibration became so serious he was forced to retire early.  “It seems the replacement part wasn’t ideal and staying out was likely to cause more damage so that ended our day early” stated Buck.

The driver was also quick to give credit to the team for their hard work this weekend and all season.  “It’s frustrating when the team worked so hard to prepare the car for each event and then to make those repairs this weekend.  I really want to thank them for their efforts.  I think if we didn’t have that vibration problem to deal with we could have been a top-ten car at least” said Buck.

Robin Buck and the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge team have now concluded their race schedule for 2017.  The team wishes to thank all the fans and their supporters and they look forward to being back in action in 2018.

The race from CTMP will be broadcast on TSN September 9th at 2:30PM ET
