ASA Late Models Challenge Series race June 30th at Cayuga, which is the Saturday of Canada Day weekend....Gotta wonder if anyone from Del-Kaw-Flam's going to show up for it....

I heard that this may happen. Apparently there has been interest by other series about running at Cayuga next year. There may be a couple of Nascar races (probably the Canadian Tire Series since the big three schedules have already been announced). Also corporate Canada seems to be jumping on the bandwagon and wanting to be involved. To me this is good news for Cayuga's rejuvenation (and Canadian racing as well). It's been a while since any big name companies have stepped up (ie. Molson, AC Delco etc).

That sounds like fun. I forget, does Cayuga still have functional lighting? (Its been a couple of years) I find it interesting they didn't go with Sunday afternoon.

Yeah, they have functional lighting...IIRC the Cayuga race over Labour Day weekend was finished under the lights...I'd imagine Flamboro's got to be pretty pissed off over this one, though....

Someone was saying they decided to postpone the re-build for one reason or another (with teh Caldeonia idspute coming up as that reason quite often...)..

I have heard the rumour that the Cayuga ASA show will also be a twinbill with ALSTAR, similar to a few years ago when there was a Hooter's Cup / ALSTAR doubleheader.

Apparently ALSTAR is opening up their rules for next season to allow more Late Models to compete and is looking to tour at other tracks again.

This is the ASA Late Model series. The ASA Tour series went out of business two years ago, and it has nothing to do with the ASA National Tour in the Midwest. Pete Vanderwyst ran a bunch of races with them this year...

Ah Mobile1fan you need to keep up.

I did some research and this is the series that started in Michigan about 5 years ago and then sold out to ASA and then bought it back when ASA ran into so much trouble. This is an excellent series with very good rules late model chassis, crate motors, template bodies and strict rules on tires, shocks and other expenses. Very competitive.

Just in the last 3 or 4 weeks the "old" ASA has resurfaced, but I have to admit that I didn't really pay enough attention and can't remember where I saw it (probably the michigan short track board.

Should be an excelllent show.

I was under the impression that the "old" ASA that re-surfaced was using underslung LMs like the ASA LM series. Either way, the ASA LM show at Cayuga should be a good one...I'd like to hear more about ALSTAR's plans, however. Which tracks are they racing at, and what rules are they aiming at to bring crates into the show?

ASA National Tour Bankrupted at the end of the season, in 2004.

This series used specifics frame and roll-cage

Also used their own SPEC MOTOR - GM LS1 - with electronic injection system.

In 2005, some ex-drivers/Car owners from ASA NAT'L TOUR worked in association with Mid-American Racing to sanction a series using these cars, Series called American Stock-Car League. But, after the dead of Mid-American Racing foundator, only original racing division Mid-Am Racing still stayed.

Saw infos that somebody try to restart series with old ASA Nat'l Tour Rules for 2007.

ASA Late-Model Series announced for 2007 at Cayuga used similar chassis and roll-cage than Late-Model at Delaware and lot of others racetracks. Plus CRATE ENGINE PROGRAM with GM 410HP + DODGE and ford CRATE ENGINE.

In 2002, some drivers created this series with some exhibitions race under the name of USPRO.

In 2003, foundator of the series wanted to ASA to sanction their events.

After the bankcrupt of ASA Nat'l Tour, this racing division now considered 1st racing series under ASA sanctionning body.
