For Immediate Release - March 23, 2010  From Jim Irvine - Merrittville Public Relations - 905-685-7223 Winter Office or jimirvine@cogeco.net

Thorold, Ontario (March 23) – Every year more and more Saturday Night Stars can say that they got their starts in karting.

Even before Merrittville Speedway established the Tuesday Night program facilities such as the Virgil Kart Club and of late our infield track have produced talent including Lampman, Steele, Cunningham, Wood, Wutzke, Bicknell, D’Ilario, Chevalier, Williamson, Sharp, Pierce, Sheehan, Small, the McPhersons, Willard, Bleich, Reid, Bowman, Braun, Klager, Tallman, Mastroianni, Leslie and Robbins.

They all got their start in racing in karts before joining their respective  Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions.

Tuesday Nights at Merrittville are reserved for the Lucas Oil Weekly Kart Racing Series and while other future Saturday night stars are preparing for the start of their season on the infield track – for many it will start with the 7th Annual Racing Equipment Kart School.

“It’s a must for first time Novice and other karters alike,” informs (RCM Racing Equipment’s) Chris Long, “but karters of any level are welcome.”

In class and on track sessions will teach and develop entry level or inexperienced karters the basics of karting – focusing on understanding the track rules and providing basic instruction of kart setups, maintenance procedures and proper driving techniques.

“Similar to last year year,” adds former Kart Racer now Kart Race Director and ’08 J&S Heating Modified Lite Saturday Night Champion Paul Klager, “we are looking for drivers and teams to treat each other with the same respect that they would like to be treated with and first and foremost to have some fun … and that starts when we hit the track for the first time at the school!”

The two day event begins with a Classroom session Saturday April 3rd in Dippers Turn 1 Meeting Facility which is located in behind the Turn 1 Grandstand from 9 AM to 2 PM.

On track portions run Sunday April 18 from 1 PM until 6 PM in addition to Sunday April 25 – running again from  1 PM to 6 PM.

Registration is $50.00 per person and for families where there are two drivers – an economical rate of $120.00 has been established which includes both drivers and one crew member.
