CORMIER WINS SUPER SERIES ROUND 2

July 26, 2014

Shediac, NB - Shediac's CFS  completed round 2 for the Maritime Super Series of Racing Saturday Night, July 26.  Teams from as far as Halifax, Miramichi and Fredericton were on hand to compete in the second offering of the series and the racing was heated.  In the Sportsman Division it was the veteran Bert "Earnhardt" Cormier taking the win in his #3 Monte Carlo over Marc Williams in the #15 machine of former driver and car owner Dan Bourque who recently retired due to next and back issues.  Cormier, from Bouctouche, and Williams, from Shediac Cape, each won a heat and semi respectively and battled side by side and bumper to bumper for the final 25 laps of their feature event.  Sparks flew between the two when Williams, trying to gain the lead back from Cormier lifted the rear of Cormiers' car sending him spinning thru turn 4.  Cormier retaliated under caution spinning Williams who was forced to pit.  When the gree flag flew on the restart it was all  "Earnhardt" taking his first feature win of the season.   Rookie Kevin Cormier of Saint Antoine was third.

In Street Stock it was "Big Bad Brad" MacLean out of Black River with the grand slam over fellow 'chi driver James Matchett and Saint John's Kevin Hartley who took second and third in the feature, respectively.  MacLean's son Axton won the Checkered Flag Day challenge waving his flag to a trip to the flagstand to drop the green on his Dads' feature event when the Super Series returns to Shediac on August 9th at 7 PM.

Last but not least, it was once again JR Lawson from Halifax who took the heat, semi and feature races in the Mini Stock Division.  Lawson was followed by rookies Josh Moore of Fredericton in 2nd and Rob Edwards of Salisbury, in 3rd.
