Action Sprint Tour Readies For Inaugural Trip to Brighton Speedway on August 18

ACTION SPRINT TOUR READIES FOR INAUGURAL TRIP TO BRIGHTON SPEEDWAY ON AUGUST 18

OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 14, 2018) – The Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com resumes action on its inaugural 2018 season with its first ever visit to Brighton Speedway on Saturday, August 18 for Pinty’s Delicious Foods and Sticker Revival night. The race marks the eighth race of the season for the tour this season and the final race of a stretch of four races in four weeks.

Brighton Speedway has hosted 360 Sprint Car racing for several decades, but this Saturday’s visit by the Action Sprint Tour marks the first visit for Crate Sprint Car racing to the one-third mile Eastern Ontario oval located just off the shores of Lake Ontario.

The race will be particularly exciting for Gores Landing, Ontario driver Brandon Murrell. Murrell is one of only a few drivers on the tour, including veteran Sprint Car racer Ryan Hunsinger, that have definitive experience at Brighton. The former Brighton Thunder Stock racer is set to make his first career Sprint Car start at his former home track this weekend.

New Point Leader

Last Sunday night, Shone Evans added his name to the record books as the first three-race winner on the Action Sprint Tour after his win at Humberstone Speedway. Evans was also the first driver to win back-to-back races on the tour earlier this season when he won at Merrittville Speedway on May 21 and then South Buxton Raceway on June 9.

Evans’ most recent victory gave him the series point lead, but the advantage is just two points over Aaron Turkey entering the final three races of the season. Turkey has a pair of wins to his credit this season. Jacob Dykstra, another two-time winner this season, has vaulted into third in the standings on the strength of two wins and a top-five finish in his last three races. He sits three points ahead of Jesse Costa while the aforementioned Hunsinger sits fifth.

Steven Beckett of Fonthill, Ont. hodls the sixth spot while Brad Herron is seventh. Dereck Lemyre, Paul Klager and Jerry Hill round out the top-10 after seven races this season.

Saturday night’s event at Brighton also features Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stock and Comp 4 racing. Race time is 7:00pm with hot laps scheduled for 6:00pm. Adult grandstand admission is $15.00. Additional event information is available at www.brightonspeedway.ca.
