Auto City Speedway up Next for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

Third Event of the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup

 

Salem, IN. (July 31, 2018) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will return to action this Saturday at Auto City Speedway located in Clio, Michigan. Past series winners at Auto City Speedway include NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Daniel Hemric in 2012, Robbie Johnson in 2013, Eric Lee in 2014, Dalton Armstrong in 2015 and Clio, Michigan’s own Kyle Hayden was the winner of last season’s event. 

 

The series opened its 2018 season at Birch Run Speedway on April 29th were Michigan veteran Brian Campbell picked up the victory. The series second event was the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 18th, were Josh Reeves came away with the victory, his first ever win with CRA. Bubba Pollard won the series third event of the season, the Masters of the Pro’s 200 on June 8th at Birch Run Speedway. Cole Williams was victorious in the series event on June 16th at Salem Speedway. Campbell returned to victory lane in the series last event on June 30th at Baer Field Motorsports Park. With the Jul y 21st event at Kil-Kare Raceway being canceled, the series has had a month off going into Saturday night’s event.

 

With his two wins, Campbell is the only driver currently locked into the Chase for the Championship if he competes in at least 70% of the races leading up to the final four Chase events. There are only two series events left until the first event of the Chase to crown the 2018 series Champion. 

 

With his third place finish in the series Baer Field event, 2017 series Champion Jack Dossey III has moved into the series Championship points lead. DGR-CROSLEY Rookie of the Year point’s leader Mason Keller is now in second place in Championship points, he is six points behind Dossey. Mandy Chick is in third place in series points, she is 52 points behind Keller. Michael Clancy Jr. is in fourth place in series points, with Campbell in fifth place. The entire top five in points are entered for Saturday night’s event, as Campbell, the series wins leader, looks to make it two straight and three wins for the season.

 

Former event winners Kyle Hayden and Eric Lee are also both entered for Saturday night’s event.

Other top CRA drivers entered for the Saturday include DGR-CROSLEY Rookie of the Year Rookie competitor Tyler Hufford, Trever McCoy, former ASA Racing Series competitor Robbie Pyle coming off a second place finish at Baer Field, 2017 series Rookie of the Year and three time event winner Carson Hocevar, 2017 Owosso Speedway event winner Kyle Crump, 2014 series Champion Dan Leeck,Wes Griffith Jr.,  Nate Walton, Anthony Danta, Brandon Varney, Jerry Andrews and rookie Hayden Sprague. Jimmy Tucker is entered to make his series debut.

 

The Auto City Speedway event will be the third event of the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup, which will include a mini point series with the five races scheduled in Michigan for the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour. The program involved the season opening Dixie 100 at Birch Run Speedway and the Masters of the Pro’s at Birch Run. The other two events in the mini-series will be at Berlin Raceway on August 11th and the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup Championship event at Owosso Speedway on August 25th.

 

The driver earning the most points in the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup will be crowned the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup Champion and receive a $2,000 cash bonus and trophy at the 2018 CRA Awards Banquet. Kyle Jones is the current point’s leader in the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup standings, but he is not entered for Saturday’s race. Hocevar is in second place, two points ahead of third place Campbell. The winner of the Auto City event will receive a $500 cash bonus from JAS Expedited Trucking.

 

There is an open practice scheduled for Friday, pit gates open at 3pm, practice will run from 4pm until 8pm. Pit gates open on Saturday at 1:30pm, with a one hour practice session for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour starting at 4pm. Lisa Thomas Salon qualifying for the Back to School 100 will start at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7 pm, also racing that night will be the Auto City Pure Stocks, Figure 8’s and the All American Trucks. There will be an autograph session with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour drivers prior to their feature, which will take place after driver intros.
