gonna be a great day of racing thats forsure!
-
It will be interesting to see who comes this year, with the Td Banknorth 250 the following weekend.
-
so..less then a week away....anybody wanna take some educated guess's on how many LM,TC,MS will be there?
-
Derek was saying on RTR...that he expectes 42-45 LM's to show up, I think that's a big optimistic, but who knows...eaither way it's going to be a big field.

I don't know if that is too far off. They had what, 22-25 at the last 100 lap LM race didn't they? Now add 22 of their own cars + 22 of the ACT tour cars, and you're up over 40. Could be wrong, but if the weather is good, I could see that many cars show up no problem. Lets hope anyways!!

very true....how many cars does ACT start? 32? ...theres a very good chance of some guys not even making the race.
btw,Derek said he would be racing as well.
-
How many guys have made all of the ACT tour races so far, or have attempted all of them so far?
-
Min 30 cars started every ACT race so far this year.
ACT castrol series, has it listed on the shedule, but as a non-point event.
15 ish regular Kawartha cars, maybe CCS cars also.
I'll guess 40 cars..
-
I know ACT caps the grid at 30, but how many of those have attempted all of the Tour events so far?
-
I can't see them capping the grid at 30. Some races had 33.
-
I think the car count will depend on how many come from the Quebec series. I believe there was only maybe 2 of them showed up last year. I also noticed Pete Shepherd is registered for the Td Banknorth race as well, so maybe there is a chance he will be at Kawartha.
-
Definitely looking forward to the Sizzler. If memory serves me correctly there was over 30 cars in the field for the very first Sizzler. And as long as the weather forecast holds up there is no mention of bad weather. So it won't be a Summer Chiller this year like last year.LOL
-
Pete Sheppard was out at Kawartha earlier this season with a Late Model that is ACT legal (bought it from Brian Cathcart who had it built for Kawartha which is ACT rules) I'll bet he's there.
-
one driver that more than likely wont be there is the #97 of Joey Pole, he's making his CW East debut at Thompson Speedway in CT the night before

that's a bit unfortunity...believe he finished 3rd last year, but regardless...CW series is the next step up for him....so I wish him good luck in that.
-
Actually, I had heard that the Cathcart car is not ACT legal. Rumor had it at the time that he built the car to run KD but when they went ACT rules it wasn't legal, that's why it sat in the shop. He never ever, brought it out, so that does make sense. AGAIN, RUMOR ONLY.

-
So if Pete's car wasn't legal how did he run with the late models a couple weeks ago in the 13 car? Any chance he could work on it to make it ACT legal or would that be just too much effort for the ability to run 1 event?
-
If that's the car they plan to take to Oxford will it not need to be basicly ACT legal?
I thought the ads I saw for the car mentioned it was an ACT legal car.....but I could have just assumed that ..............I can't remember if the ads said so or not.
Wasn't it just carbs and shocks (plus bodies in some cases) that needed to be changed to get inline with ACT rules? How far apart are the rules?

http://www.kawarthadowns.com/Webpages/story.php?artid=111
entry list posted...45 cars :o
19-Ontario
13-Vermont
9-Quebec
2-New Hampshire
2-Maine

If the car you are talking about Slappy is the one that Whit drove in one of the first Sizzlers, I think it was a mix of all the best rules of the ACT cars and the Late Model cars at the time. It's a perimeter car so it should be able to be made to meet the ACT rules. May need some parts to do it, but likely can be done.
-
Leclerc, Cyr, Allard, Theetge and Laperle are coming
my weekend = set
-
It's gonna be a long haul for some of these guys if they don't even make the race.
Heats/LCQ's are gonna be hectic
-
I'm pretty sure he had/has a built engine. As far as the chassis goes I'm not 100% sure. Lyhcn said they may be willing to start 40 cars. Lynch expects 12 to 14 KD regs, 5 CCS cars, 5 Series Castrol ACT cars, 15 to 18 from ACT tour and add Lynch and Vanderwyst that's one full field of cars. Spotting could be quite a chore.LOL
-
I think the Cathcart car was built to run the 06 rules for the 07 season then Lynch went to the ACT rules and Cathcart was pissy so he didn't run it.To my understanding it was a brand new Lefthander chassis with a built motor. If the car is racing in ACT Im sure it has a crate now.
-
Slowel you have no idea what you are talking about. Cathcart had the car built to ACT Rules for Kawartha. It was built by Bill Burns who is Andrew Ranger's crew chief. Bill is a good friend of Bryan's. Bryan did not run the car in 2007, as his mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July and passed away in September, so he wasn't pissy about the rules; he had other priorities. This year he is running some NASCAR Canadian Tire races as time permits, as he has a very busy business, as well as a Jr. A hockey team. The Zardos and the Sheppards have been friends of his for years, so he thought, if he could help Pete out, he would let him race the car, as he was not going to have time to do it. It's too bad some of you guys don't know what you're talking about.
-
Excuse me Farmer, I was wrong I guess.
-
very quick rundown...beacuse I just got home and need to shower & eat.
Patrick Laperle wins again for the 2nd straight year...very competitive race, prolly the best LM show I'v ever seen...45 cars showed up for 36 spots.
I'l be back on later to do a bit more of a review..along with a lot of other people I'm sure.
bit more information...I'm not exactly sure the order of the top-5 so I'l let somebody eles fill that in.
The Battle for the lead within the last 10 laps was amazing..between Laperle & Karl Allard as they ran side-by-side literary stuck! together for a good 5 laps or so..untill Karl slide up and almost lost the car.
I was impressed with how Laperle was able fix the handling on his car...beacuse I had him counted out earlier in the race..as he about wrecked the car 4-5 times as it was loooose going into the turns.
Best running KD car was again McCattie..but just like last year he cut down a tire...and then basicly took him out of contention.
Racing was real clean untill the B/LCQ race.... when all hell broke loose..it took over an hour to do a 20 lap race...18 cars started...and only 9 were running at the end...and half of them were looking real rough as well..there was a big pile up in turn-4 involving about half the field.... and the biggest wreck was near the end...when Fernandes & Kimball were both in a TRASNFER SPOT!..and they took them selves out as they made contact off turn 2...and both cars hit the inside wall on the back stretch hard! sending a lot of the blocks out of place....and one all the way down the hill.
The Feature was fairly clean...they ran the first 74 laps green flag..and then just a few bumps and spins...a couple times a lot of guys need a big hand...beacuse there could have been some huge pile-up's but everyone got slown down and advioded the spun car...on a few different occasions
Mini-Stocks were won by Shanna Moroney...went from upside down to victorylane in about a week...big pat on the back to all of the Moroney's
Thunder Car Feature went to the #53 of Mike Poulton who had a great! battle with Doucette also Mayhew & Wille were right on there tails. There was one big wreck at the end that heavily damaged a few cars.
Legends was won by #99 (not sure on the name) but they had a big 27 car field that ran caution free feature.
Was a great day...can't wait till next year already!

-
I stood all night and I'm getting grey... so it wasn't me, lol. I checked out all 4 turns though, from the outside fences. Had a nice visit with Glenn Watson in turn #3 during the B/LCQ run.
-
haha ok...didn't think it was you....beacuse this guy looked like he was like 16..but had like a $2 000 camara lol
-
one of the best shows ive ever been to
just amazing...
-
+1....now that's racing....
-
I managed to get the video camera out for a few moments. Here's a 3 min clip of the pit area, plus a few laps of the ACT Feature.

that pic of the napa car must have been early on as spencer lost most of his panels but was running at the end.
-
yep that pic of the napa car was taken around 4:20 pm, during the qualifying. Here's a better shot of the 31 car, in the same run later on.

Hey Dan, Was nice to meet & chat with you - keep up the good work!
-
thanks Glenn, was great meeting you as well. Gotta love that extra oil and grit comin off turn 3 onto your hotdog, lol.
-
It just showed in that B/LCQ ....that you don't give up...beacuse it was gonna be the last 5 cars running that were gonna make it in! ...2 of the cars that did were like "half-cars" they looked more like modifides
-
Was nice meeting you too 3 WIDE!!! I agree with everyone else is that was one of the best LM shows I will see!! Laperle looked good in taking a car that maybe wasnt the best in the heats to victory lane after an 8th in his first NCATS race at St.Eustache!!! Was nice to see Barrie area cars Doucette and Slaughter Jr. run well in Thunders until Steve had an accident on the last lap. Nice to see a couple of old Sunset friends and a big thanks to Steve Slaughter Jr. and Herbie Walters for driving me down there!!! Brandon Watson ran well in the ACT race and finished mid pack if I was guessin so that pleased me to see as well. Totally impressed with Johnathon Urlin to as well as Spencer McPherson. Two other good young Canadian drivers that will be great shoes in time.
