GREAT feedback Jason, finally someone on here that's in the series that is saying something positive about what has happened in the past 2 seasons under the NASCAR banner.  I must admit if they were to reduce the series I'd be very sad since that would mean there would be less events in Ontario that I could attend but if that is the case I'll accept it and hope that within a couple of seasons the series will grow back so I can spend more time at the track watching you guys race.  A & W is definitely expanding its company as I just heard that the one in the town beside my hometown is now open so when I go home to visit the family I know where I'm going.LOL

Any chance we can speed the calendar up cause I'm already sick of not being at a race track.  Especially since I just looked outside and see its snowing out. UGH!!!!

Sounds like another Bruton Smith/SMI story to me. This group has been rumoured to be wanting to start a new series a few times over the years. They are the only ones with enough clout and race tracks to be able to pull this off. Bruton's no spring chicken and has stated in interviews over the past while that his interest in this project has waned. While his son is poised to take over the family business, I haven't head that he shares the vision of a new series. Besides, he also has shareholders to answer to. While I'm not opposed to a new racing series, the logistics of it succeeding make me sceptical. Nascar is the proverbial 900 lb gorilla of stock car racing. It's still considered the top level. Everything else, unfortunately is considered second tier. This new venture would still have to compete with Nascar for sponsorship dollars. If team owners, drivers, sponsors, or whoever wanted to race less expensively, I think that would just simply choose to be involved in one of the many other existing series'. Is a new series going to be able to attract many top teams or drivers? Not likely many. The top dogs will probably stay with the top series. The more racing the better in my opinion, but colour me sceptical on this happening.
To put this into perspective (to me anyway). In football, the NFL is king. What happened to the USFL, XFL, NFL Europe, Arena Football and any other new league? Even the (senior in existence) CFL plays plays second/third fiddle the the almighty NFL.
WHA anyone? Even Gordie Howe couldn't elbow this league to succeed.
Just like all the stories about new tracks in Ontario, I'm all for it, but I won't hold my breath for now.

Isn't that also what we heard when the OSS was started that teams would move from CASCAR/NASCAR because they were going to be the best sponsored and supported series?

And from what I've seen of both series that is just not going to happen.

The OSS or as most race fans call it the ISSH series (I Should of Stayed Home ) series is a bad comparison even to the NCTS .

4.  tell gp3r ,  dont ask, tell them   that we roll haulers in on saturday morning  practice and qualify on saturday  and race sunday.  if they say we wont be the lead show...so be it,  we need to cut costs,  and if they want the best and closest racing in canada  that is just how it is.
5.  As team owners ,feed your guys and gals  at A&W,  its a very cost effective way to reduce your food and beverage costs.....have you had  a full bacon and eggs  breaky there.....its   awesome!!!!!LMAO

You make some very valid points Jason. I especially like 4 & 5.

I don't know how your team did it, but I can attest. Most of us volunteer our time and have full time jobs outside of racing and it's really not necessary to be taking extra time off from work, just to get to an event, days in advance. We use up our holidays for the series as it is. Besides, the fans at the GP3R would go nuts, if AR and our series were not there to race! ;)

As for A&W, you know it's my favourite, just don't tell my step daughter & her husband who are both managers for the competition.  :-[

The point i was trying to make when I mentioned the OSS was that there have been numerous series "supposed" to start up and dominate the Canadian racing scene.  ISA, and most recently the OSS.  The OSS did see an increase in the number of cars for its events and the schedule did increase, however after watching both them and the NASCAR series I definitely would rather watch an NCATS race over the OSS.  And as pointed out by southernsponsor, the current shape of the world economy is no where near in good enough shape to try and start a series from scratch and take on something that has been around for some time.
