Wally Wilson Suffers Bad Luck at Peterborough and Sauble
It seems no matter where Wally Wilson goes, the bad luck is following him as he could not shake it, whether behind the wheel of his OSCAAR Modified or Outlaw Midget this past weekend.

Wilson started off his weekend at Peterborough Speedway on Saturday night with the OSCAAR Modified, in hopes of posting a solid result. However, during the second practice, the No. 69 car shut off, sending Wilson into the pits early. The team went to work immediately diagnosing the issue – electrical with the MSD box not working. The team appreciates the efforts from fellow competitors Adam Hagen, Tyler Hawn and Gary Elliott in helping diagnose the problem, as well as offer spares that they had to try and fix it. But unfortunately, none of those worked with the wiring, resulting in Wilson sitting out the night.

Wilson then made the trip to Sauble Speedway on Sunday afternoon with his Outlaw Midget, set for a better outing. He started out the night showing speed throughout practice, poised for a strong night of racing. When the night began, Wilson was informed he would have to start at the rear for each event due to missing the first day of the series’ double-header. He was fast in the first heat, but a left rear going down on Lap 2 slowed him quickly. He then showed speed once again in heat, when he was cut off while working his away around a fellow competitor, causing contact with the curb. The contact was enough to shake key steering components loose, resulting in another poor showing. He would repair the damage, start last in the feature and began to make his way through the traffic when he broke the chain on Lap 2, sending him to the pits early.

Wilson and team were originally set to race at Sauble Speedway in the Rick Woolner Memorial this weekend, but the event was cancelled. As a result, current discussions are on-going about attending the Outlaw Midget this Saturday, August 12 at Sunset Speedway. If the team does attend, you will want to be there as it’s a fan appreciation night, with a pre-race autograph session. Stay tuned to the team’s facebook for the definitive answer on whether they go.

Wilson’s OSCAAR Modified season will continue on Saturday, August 19 with another race night at his home track, Sauble Speedway.
