OHSWEKEN, Ont. – August 24, 2017 – Ohsweken Speedway has an action packed week of excitement beginning with Thursday’s Triple Crown Showdown featuring the return of the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds and concluding with $5 Fan Appreciation night presented by Gale’s Auto Aftermarket featuring Gale’s Cash Blast for the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks.

The final night of racing at Ohsweken in August will have a fury of action. Headlining the night is  a 50-lap feature for the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks in the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Cash Blast. The top finishing Ohsweken driver with perfect attendance will have earn a cool $2,000. The second finisher with perfect attendance will earn $750 and the third a $500 payday, all courtesy of Gale’s Auto Aftermarket.

On Friday, Ohsweken will also play host to its first-ever Topless Late Model open. The event brings together drivers from Brighton, Humberstone and South Buxton speedways with the roofs removed to compete against the best from the Go Nuclear Late Model Series on neutral ground. The winner will take home a $1,000 cheque and all starters are guaranteed $150.

The night also has the August 11 make-up features for the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks. The Mini Stocks will run their biggest event of the year, the 42-lap and $1,000-to-win Art Hill Memorial before their regularly scheduled event. The Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars have a pair of 20-lap Features on the schedule. The Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers compete in a regular weekly event.

Fans will be able to see all of the wheel-to-wheel action for just $5 each. Race time is 7:30. For additional event information and a complete schedule of events, visit www.ohswekenspeedway.com.

Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars
Holly Porter assumed the points lead after Mack DeMan had rear-end issues during last week’s Feature. He slipped back to second in the standings, 21 points behind Porter. Jesse McDonald currently sits third in the title chase, 39 points off the lead with two races remain. Mike Thorne and Shone Evans complete the current top-five entering Friday’s action.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks
The drivers in the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock division will be gunning for a major prize on Friday night in their second 50-lap Feature of the season. Dave Bailey took a stranglehold on the championship standings with a win in the August 11 make-up Feature last week while Ryan Dinning bounced back from a flat tire in that race to win the second Feature. Ken Sargent’s pair of podium finishes moved him up to second in the standings, 112 points back of Bailey. Dinning now sits third in the standings while Jim Lampman and Dereck Lemyre sit fourth and fifth in the standings.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks
The HRW Automotive Mini Stocks were plenty excited for the Art Hill Memorial two weeks ago with plenty of furious action. Early rain forced the Feature to be held over to this Friday night, but it doesn’t look like the drivers have lost any of their passion with plenty of four and five wide action around the track last week. Entering this week’s action, Mark Bazuin has a narrow two-point lead over Jon Janssens. Rookie driver Nick Masi remains in championship contention as he sits just four points back of the lead. Brandon Crumbie and Tim DeBoer round out the top-five entering the pair of Features this week.

Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers
The Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers return to action for their next to last Feature of the season. Lucas Smith enters the week with a 29-point lead over Paul Longboat. Gillian Hils currently sits third in the standings ahead of Dustin Longboat and Jerry Burnham who round out the top-five.
