Fox Racing Junior Late Models - 100 Lap Race?
« on: August 11, 2008, 02:24:25 AM »
To all the parents of the Fox Racing Junior Late Model Drivers.

We have all seen our kids run 50 lap races........with no problems. Last year one went caution free in approximately 13 minutes.

I was wondering what you all thought about trying a 100 lap race this year?

I have NOT talked to Brad about this yet...however...IF you were all in favor, I would massage his shoulders and give atleast a $1,000 payout....to the top 24 spots.

I think we should try to start 24.....maybe get a couple more cars from Deleware.

Next time we race, please come talk to me, this is just an idea........it may be a good one.....it may be a bad one...you tell me!

Assuming the cars will go 100 laps on fuel without a pitstop I think it'd be a good idea. Have a Jcar invitational where they run 2 lap time trials for starting positions. No points, just Robs cash!

thats not a bad idea, not a good idea though.. heres the reasons why there is a range of talent on the track. people are getting lapped every 2 laps and can get in the way. some drivers may not be patient and try to win it in the first 10-20 laps and may cause an accident and someone could get hurt. some of the younger kids will get tired doing it and may fall asleep and could get in a serious accident

we went caution free last year. but that was with less cars and more patients. and so far this year in the 50 lap races we have had some bad accidents.

I as a driver in the junior late models is not in favor of this.

Apparently the mini-trucks are going 75 laps in the Fall Classic this year. Those 50 lap races can get pretty boring if you aren't involved in a decent battle for position.

I don't know how often you get a chance to watch the JLM features, there can be quite a few good battles going on around the track at one time. My thought process in offering the 100 lap race is to offer up something new, different and exciting, as well as giving all these young drivers extra seat time all in 1 shot so they can see how it feels to go the 100 laps. If Brad gives me a thumbs up to try it, we would figure out when to start counting cautions so fuel was not an issue.

In terms of the lappers someone commented on earlier, If you pay attention to the cautions and accidents that happen in a heat or feature race in the JLM division, most of them are cause by over agressive driving by drivers in the top 12 in points. The "lappers" you mention rarely this season have been the cause of many accidents at all.

In a 100 lap race like this, I would also bet that know driver who are top 3 in points right now would win the race......(2 out of the 3 probably wouldnt finish............purely by odds).

If all works out, you can count on Wes making a comeback for the 100 lap feature, right Rob??lol
Wes and I think it is an awesome experience for ALL the driver's and it should be at driver/parental discrection for each driver if they want to particiate so if their attention span isn't up to par they may just sit it out.
I think it is a great opportunity for these young guns to showcase their talent and commend Rob for going the extra mile to line afew pockets.

Did anyone who was racing on the 16th get a chance to talk with Brad regarding my 100 lapper idea?

The topic didn't come up at the race meeting. I don't know if any of the JLM's said anything to Brad individually.
