Apparently the mini-trucks are going 75 laps in the Fall Classic this year. Those 50 lap races can get pretty boring if you aren't involved in a decent battle for position.
I don't know how often you get a chance to watch the JLM features, there can be quite a few good battles going on around the track at one time. My thought process in offering the 100 lap race is to offer up something new, different and exciting, as well as giving all these young drivers extra seat time all in 1 shot so they can see how it feels to go the 100 laps. If Brad gives me a thumbs up to try it, we would figure out when to start counting cautions so fuel was not an issue.
In terms of the lappers someone commented on earlier, If you pay attention to the cautions and accidents that happen in a heat or feature race in the JLM division, most of them are cause by over agressive driving by drivers in the top 12 in points. The "lappers" you mention rarely this season have been the cause of many accidents at all.
In a 100 lap race like this, I would also bet that know driver who are top 3 in points right now would win the race......(2 out of the 3 probably wouldnt finish............purely by odds).
