CBRT HAS HECTIC WEEKEND IN TORONTO

July 14, 2018. Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) drivers were turning heads during round number four of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Saturday on the streets of Toronto as part of the annual IndyCar weekend in Toronto. This week CBRT had three racers looking for success on the streets of Exhibition Place in Toronto.

Back for his second race of the season with CBRT was James Vance in the #1 Houston Ford/ExpoSystems Fusion who joined Brett Taylor in the #46 CBRT/iRacing.com car along with Larry Jackson in the very popular #25 Wonder bread/ B & B Decals machine.

It was an eventful weekend for the CBRT stable of drivers.  Vance had contact with another car during qualifying and unable to post a qualifying time relegating him to the back of the field at the start.  Taylor would begin the race in 13thand Jackson rolled off from the 15thstarting position.

“Tough one for us in qualifying” said CBRT General Manager Joey McColm.  “James had a fast car but that contact did some damage.  The guys will get it fixed up and he’ll be something to see coming forward during the race”.

Electrical gremlins would bite the #25 Wonder bread/ B & B Decals machine forcing Jackson to retire early.  Taylor and Vance however were making progress during the scheduled 35-lap race.  A late caution would send the race into overtime with a green, white checker finish.

On the final restart Taylor was running seventh and looking for one more spot.  When he lunged to make a daring pass and had contact with his opponent and then the wall. With little to no brake power he nursed the #46 CBRT/iRacing.com car home with a 14thplace finish.

Vance too was hustling for every spot he could gain in the final two laps, just as he was for the entire race.  After starting at the back Vance moved up to sixth, suffered contact and went to the back again before climbing into the top ten.  All without power steering which he lost early in the race.

The Stouffville, Ontario racer brought his #1 Houston Ford /ExpoSystems Fusion across the line with a seventh place finish.  For his efforts Vance was named Rookie of the Race and given the Overtaker of the race award. “He said he’d put on a show, and he did,” said McColm after the race.

“Things got a bit frantic in the final couple of laps otherwise Brett would be in the top-ten as well, upsetting for everyone he didn’t get that.  Now we’re all excited to head out west and with Brett racing close to home he’ll have a lot of support and I expect some good results,” said McColm.

Next up for the CBRT drivers is the series annual western swing.  First stop is Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Wednesday July 25th.  For the latest info & team updates follow @CBRTeams on Instagram and Facebook.
