MARITIME STOCK CAR STARS SET FOR SATURDAY SHOW AT PETTY RACEWAY

(June 23rd, 2016 - River Glade, NB) - Petty International Raceway is back in action this Saturday evening, June 25th, as the track welcomes the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour into town for their first of three stops at the high banked oval in 2016. The stock car racing card will also feature racing in three of Petty International Raceway’s house divisions, including the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, Mister Transmission Mini Stocks and Extreme Window and Entrance Systems Street Stocks. The racing action begins on Saturday with qualifying at 6pm.

Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) enters the Leisure Days RV Bandolero feature on Saturday with a slim single point advantage over Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS). The two each own feature wins in the 2016 season and will look to become the first repeat winner on the season. Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) sits third with former Canadian champions Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) and Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) completing the top five after the first two events of the season.

Multiple time Nova Scotia Mini Stock champion Tim Webster (Beaver Bank, NS) has taken an early lead in the Mister Transmission Mini Stock division after taking the first two feature events of the season. The #86 Wildwood Cabinets Honda sits seven points up on a logjam for second in the standings featuring Chantel Ackles (Shubenacadie, NS), Logan Power (Moncton, NB) and reigning Rookie of the Year Rob Poirier (Irishtown, NB), who are tied for the runner up spot in the standings. Defending champion Mike Weagle (Salisbury, NB) sits fifth in the standings on the strength of a second place finish on June 5th.

With his feature win at the last event, “The Thrill Maker” Craig Ward (Riverview, NB) finds himself on top of the Extreme Window and Entrance System Street Stock standings. Mike Edwards (Penobsquis, NB) also has two podium finishes in as many races and sits second in the standings by a single point heading into Saturday. Nick Cudmore (Goshen, NB), opening day winner Mike Duskey (Albany, PE) and Shawn Lewis (Salisbury, NB) enter Saturday’s race within the top five in the Street Stock championship standings.

The Sportsman and Women on Wheels divisions are off this Saturday night, but will return on July 9th during the MetalCore/D.R. Scrap Metals Night of Destruction.
